A short nearly level paved trail with a great view of "The Window"

Easy and accessible. Didn't have enough time to do the full window trail for sunset but this was good enough. Completed January 2019

Easy trail with a pretty view. Expect a crowd for the “sunset party.”

Always a nice little hike especially for handicapped people

Accessible for those with impaired mobility, and completely paved. Went at sunset, and we were left speechless with the view! Don’t know how it compares to the Window Trail, we haven’t had the chance to do that. Highly, highly recommend sunset here.

There are some reviews that appear to be for The Window Trail on this trail, but that trail is separate from this paved trail. This entire path is paved, mostly level, and wheelchair accessible. It didn't feel like a quarter mile walk. There are benches to sit and enjoy the view of The Window. This trail is for a leisurely stroll. Note: Any photos uploaded for this trail that show dirt/rocky trail or the slot canyon are photos for The Window Trail, not The Window View Trail.

Very beautiful, very bocky, high incline, but looks like a mural. however I won't comment on the length because this was a breaking point towards a much longer hike so I can give accuratcy.

Pretty scenic. Great view I suppose if visibility was good. I thought first week of May would be better. Next time in the winter or early Spring

Very quick and easy paved trail. Allows a glimpse of the window which is nice if you do not have the time or energy for the actual window hike.

I personally did not think it was worth the drive. Especially if you’re just there for the day. It’s a beautiful view but I would recommend doing a longer hike. However, it was really easy and accessible. There are some areas that are a little tricky or difficult, watched some older couples struggle throughout.

Fantastic hike with a great view at the end.

Fri Sep 07 2018

Quick walk that gives you a taste of what the longer hikes have to offer. Nice views of the window but better ones can be had if you opt for a more difficult hike or possibly the patio of the restaurant.

Tue May 08 2018

Paved & accessible, this is just a .3 loop to see the window. Has a bench & lots of information boards. Nice to see if you don't have the time or inclination to take the longer trail.

More of a walk than a hike, but beautiful views particularly at sunset.

Sat Mar 10 2018

Easy trail. Perfect for those with mobility difficulties. Location near restaurant and store make it a great pre-or post-meal walk. View at sunset unbeatable.

Sun Dec 31 2017

Paved walkway. Super easy and really short. Most of the trails start from this point. Parking is tight. Get to the Basin early!

Mon Dec 25 2017

If you want the better views go with the trail down to the window. It’s nice for what it is, but that isn’t significantly different than from the lodge.

Fri Oct 27 2017

It's not really a hike, but a paved walkway. super views though, and great views of the window at sunset. Good for wrapping up the day or killing a bit of time between other activities in the park/camping.

Not a hike, just a quick walk. There is the option to do the Windows hike, which is about five miles long. The views are fine, but after doing the South Rim, Lost Mine, and Santa Elena Canyon, they weren't as good as those. I would bet doing the whole hike would offer even better views.

Paved walk to see a nice view.

Great "hike" for the little kids.

Fri Jun 24 2016

Less of a trail and more of a vista! Gorgeous. Enjoyed the panoramic. Not strenuous - easy for families.

Wed Jun 22 2016

Not a lot to this hike but you're in a beautiful area so it's going to be relatively neat by default. Likely a great option for those looking for something short and stable - a means of being outside without heavy exertion.

Beautiful trail that slowly descends from the Chisos Basin campground. You descend into a canyon that ends with an amazing rock window view that can be over 30 miles on a clear day.

Fri Jan 02 2015

There is a Window Trail which starts from the Chisos campground which is absolutely beautiful. It is about 3 miles long and has great scenery leading to the gorge at the end if the trail. Steps carved out of the gorges stone walls and wildlife on the trail makes it even more special.

Mon Nov 10 2014

This is a very busy trail, especially around sunset. It starts at the Chisos Basin Trailhead, and loops around a low hill. It is paved which makes it suitable for wheelchairs. Great views of the Window!

Fri Mar 11 2011

wide trail with very little elevation change. go in the morning, little or no shade. view is nice but I would choose other hikes first.

Thu Dec 18 2008

The first 1/2 of the trail on the way out is ok. Nothing to special. Make sure to start at the actual trail entrance (not the one at the visitor center--5 spots at the real entrance so get there early) but once you get to the Window it is pretty cool. Don't get too close to the edge though..
