Very nice trail. Good for trail running or hiking. Some cons first- no restrooms, water fountains, benches, etc. (except one bench near the beginning). But those aren't very big cons, as some people don't care for those things on trails- the more rugged the better. Also, there are creek crossings seasonally. Still fun though to hop along the rocks. Now what makes this trail way cool (specifically for trail running): 90% rocky and rooty terrain make for great exercise and practice on this type of terrain. There are some climbs near the back which, while not very long, are still pretty decent. The signage and the trail itself is good enough that it'd be hard to get lost. And there are usually other people around, in case of injury. But the best thing: At the back of the trail, the loop part, there are several trails which branch off. You get to climb a little more, and the trails are a little more windy and single track and smooth- at least near the beginning. So if you're running (or hiking or whatever) and are like, "Man, that was a quick trip", you could always take one of the "off trail" trails at the back to add some more exploring and mileage.

Great hike for you and your four legged friend. A lot of dogs around off leash - so just make sure that your recall game is strong.

this is definitely not what I would consider a good running trail. very Rocky with numerous Creek crossings that slow your stride. Also this is rampant with dogs and very crowded- dogs were well behaved but it made it harder to run. I also found the trail not well marked past the creek- once you are away from the creek however it was very pretty and peaceful. most people stay by the creek so the crowed thinned. nice trail for a walk

Beautiful weather and perfect creek flow led to a great hiking experience at the Turkey Creek Trail. Lots of creek crossings and off-leash dogs but was part of the fun. Once you get to the beginning of the loop, be mindful to stay left despite what looks like the trail leading up a hill.

This was a really fun trail! Great for taking your dog hiking. Follows along a really cute creek that you crossover several times. a little muddy this time of year, but still a good time.

My absolute favorite hike to take my dogs on. Even when it's busy you don't interact with that many people beyond passing them. I always wear water friendly shoes because you will more than likely get your feet wet crossing the creek.

Water is still pretty high so plan on getting your feet wet as you go over the many creek crossings! Fun walk!

This is one of my favorite trails in Austin. It's mostly shady and criss-crosses a creek multiple times. I usually only see a few people on the trail.

This is NOT a mountain biking trail. It is for hiking and dogs. The mountain biking tag shouldn't be on this.

Beautiful trail with plenty of wandering chances

Really scenic area. Great place for dogs!
Good distance on the trail, not too much splitting, clearly marked. Mix of steep, rocky/rooty hills and flatter areas. Would be careful running on this trail, surface is uneven at times. One of my favorite trails in Austin!

Convenient hike that is enjoyable year round. Even in August this hike was pleasant due to the shady path, but it is definitely best after a rain or when there's been a rainy season. Full of people and off-leash dogs and, unfortunately, entirely too many bags of dog poop left on the trail by irresponsible owners who can't be bothered carrying out their dog's poop.

Great place to take dog, plenty of creek crossings and shaded areas to enjoy area. Downside is that the secret is out and can get pretty crowded.

Amazing, shaded, easy off-leash trail. My best fur-friend and I LOVED this trail. One caveat, there are spots at the beginning (and, upon return) to be careful with your dog; the road is very close and, if you have an explorer like mine, they can shoot out there.

Took the kids, took the dogs. Lots of creek crossing and places to splash. Almost entirely shaded.

This is the trail I run most often. It’s about 2.6 mile loop, but you can double back at the “lollipop head” and go back in the other direction to get about 3.9 miles.
Has a couple good inclines/declines and you cross the creek several times. This is a really fun trail to run and a good workout.

I love this trail! Great for doggos, very shaded, wide trail, moderate elevation. There's camping at Emma Long Metro Park right next to it. And if you want a riverside lunch afterwards, hit up Ski Shores 5 minutes away.

We went hiking here 2 days in a row and absolutely loved it. My puppy had never done a hike off-leash and he LOVED it. I wish there were more around us!

best trails to take your dog(s), if they have a good recall.

Nice trail. Only downside is all the dog poop everywhere. We found ourselves looking down most of the time to avoid stepping in what we could smell all around us.

If the dog owners would be responsible, the trail would be awesome.

Trail runs along creek bed in heavy tree cover. No views to speak of but a nice place to get out for a short hike.

It was beautiful and peaceful, and my dogs had a blast!

Definitely easy to get lost, needs some trail markers, but other than that it was a decent hike. No views, and lots of water for the dogs to swim in.

Took my dog there yesterday. It was really fun for her and not too much of a hiking challenge for me (which is a good thing). We had to cross the creek about 10 Times; so wear hiking shoes and cross carefully. Lots of friendly people and dogs. Total hike is just under 3 miles. We did inadvertently go off trail a couple times. But we managed to get back on trail within a few minutes.

Great to do with the doggy. Lower sections near the creek are nice but with some slipery watercrossings. The upper sections don't have much of a view and is just brushy woods.

Good trail..could use a bit more markers though, you can easily get lost in the evening/night..

I really loved this trail.. it is beautiful and cool under the tree coverings.. I loved that it had some options for elevation on the cliff rather than just staying on the creekside. Aroumd the top of the loop looks a little barren and it gets muddy after rain but Its a beautiful scene to walk through. If you have friendly dogs it is a leash free trail so they can roam independently..
