The Bowl Loop Trail is located at the top of the mountain near the Hunter Peak, about 2500 ft. high in front of the Guadalupe Peak Texas Highpoint. When completing the loop, you will arrive at the intersection with the small trail that takes you to the Hunter Peak as an optional add on to the the hike with gorgeous views. It will take you between 6 and 7 hours to complete the journey, but it is worth the effort.

Bowl Trail is at the top of the mountain about 2500 feet high and near Hunter Peak in front of the Guadalupe Peak, you can get there by Tejas Trail or by Bear Canyon Trail. From Pine Spring campground we took Frijole Trail, then we went up by Bear Canyon Trail. The trail steep but moderate to hike, and a beautiful view along the way. At the top you do not believe the scenery of the pine trees forest and the beautiful view in all directions, Bowl Trail is a loop in this forest. We took to the left until the intersection with Tejas Trail, then we decided to take to the left on the way to the Pine Spring campground, instead to return by the Bowl loop to Bear Canyon. We had a very good time going down by the Tejas Trail, an unexpected thrill was the presence of 4 individual pale tan sheep inside the canyon. This was a long hike (10.1 miles), not difficult and very enjoyable, we recommend it a lot. Next time we plan to go up by the Bear Canyon Trail, do the loop of Bowl Trail and return by the Bear Canyon Trail.

Decent hike, especially in July but worth it. Really pretty pine forest that's a nice break from the surrounding desert.
