Amazing hiking trail.

We did this hike down after hiking CCC trail up. It seemed more arduous than CCC But that was probably because I was tired. I liked CCC better, I think.

Started the Skyline Drive trail next to the Interpretive Center. A little over 500' of gain to the top overlook, with fairly easy switchbacks that get you up quickly. Trail was rocky enough that I'd wished for my boots instead of my trail runners, but no big deal. Beautiful views in all directions. Took it all the way to the end and then returned on the CCCC trail which was nice because it was a gentler sloping return. Overall was 5.3 miles and took a little over 3 hours including lots of stops to enjoy the overlooks. Great stuff!

Rode this out full length.
Beautiful panoramas of the mountain area.
Lave flows are striking and "amazingly" large, glad it cooled off here all those years ago.

This paved road goes from the camping area and climbs to the summit of the mountain to the southeast. It has a couple of switchbacks, and yet not intimidating. There are several pullouts that offer great views of the surrounding area. Near the end are several picnic tables.
