Historic quarry; creek; hills; quiet back streets; beautiful church grounds Walking thru the Alamo Quarry Market, admire the old quarry buildings & static displays of mining equipment. Leaving Market, climb uphill to head of La Jara Creek & follow it downhill under canopy of trees. Continue thru Alamo Heights neighborhood toward McNay mansion/art museum, admiring the homes, expecially on Bluebonnet. Pass through the long, covered corredor at AH High School, with water fountain, soda machines, & several restful venues with seating. Continue thru quiet backstreets to AH Middle School. Walk thru AH MS. Continue to St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church with its Alamo-like facade, restored chapel, grotto, & unique stations of the cross. Continue thru the grounds. You will pass large, more modern, and beautiful church. Near Market, notice the large open-pit quarry, now golf course. Good view from top of stairs at back of cinema. Enjoyable. A few streets have changed since first mapped so we made our own way. Lots to see and generally good sidewalks
