Rocky Point Trail is a 4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Flower Mound, Texas that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
There is parking available for 6-8 cars in the parking lot. There are no facilities at the trail head. The start of the trail is marked by a small sign.
Take Cross Timbers Road from I-35 E or Lewisville. Turn south onto High Road (there is a light at this intersection) and continue .5 miles to a small parking area on the left (east) side of the road. If you make it to Sunnyview Lane you have gone to far. There is no signage, but the parking lot is pretty obvious.
Very pleasant and quiet. A few others along the way, but mostly quiet.
Great trail, a little muddy because of recent rain. It’s listed as moderate but only one short section is slightly difficult. The rest is relatively flat and easy. After the short downhill the trail follows a lovely babbling creek. Then it splits into northern and southern forks. We took the southern fork which leads to Grapevine Lake. Great trail overall.
Fun trail, nice and empty. Only saw one other group. Yes it's a little overgrown but that's a fair price to pay for a little solitude. It does back up against some houses but still a nice little outdoor oasis on the lake.
I love overgrown trails like this but wish it would get cleaned up just a bit. It is beautiful and leads to the lake. The one really major pain was all the stickers once you start getting close to the lake. We kept having to stop because my dog was getting stickers in her paws. The stickers were truly everywhere!
if you come out and do the left trail, their is only about .25 of a nile that you can clearly tell is the trail. the rest is overgrown and hard to navigate even with the App. the right trail is great and easy to follow.
Beautiful!! Some parts were definitely overgrown, but not bad at all. It took me a while to figure out where to park, it’s the little clearing on the corner of high rd and sunnyville lane.
Definitely wear pants and hiking boots if you have them. As someone stated before it absolutely is like a fairy forest. The second part of the trail we had a hard time locating because overgrown areas. Incredibly beautiful and peaceful hike. I will be back. Be prepared for the grasshoppers. They are very active but were pretty cool.
First time on this trail. Wish I wore pants, lots low vegetation. Otherwise, great! I was the only there on a Saturday.
Winding up and down over rock and slick mud, this trail is great if you are looking for a hidden magically fairy forest. You follow a very interesting stream along parts of the trail that give a nice escape into nature. I went at the hottest part of the day in the beginning of September and the mud was slick so I’d be careful. The scenery will make you feel like you are in some type of magic woods.
