Really nice hike, definitely a mountain bike trail. if your heading out towards Lizards Leap, forget it, nothing out there but brush and over growth.

This was a fun trail - worth the drive. It’s the first trail in Texas that made me wish I’d brought my trekking poles. Lots of ups and downs, twist and turns. I can see why the mountain bikers like it. The only negative was the trail is not well marked and it’s easy to get turned around unless you’re staring at your GPS, which defeats the purpose of hiking. I only ended up doing about half the trail because I got turned around without immediately realizing it but I’m definitely going to head back out there again next time we have some cooler weather.

$10 fee at the self check in, just sign the liability release form and put them in the drop off box. Moderate rocky hills at the begging but the further you go in the trails the funner it gets.

The trails were not clearly marked, so we parked at the camp ground and found a trail. Single track riding narrow trails with seriously rocky steep inclines. Efficient gear shifting helps for the ups and downs. The decents were fun.

Highly recommend this trail. The further back in the ranch you go, the better the trails get. Most of the elevation gain is in the first few miles, pay early...dividends later. Plenty of single track through the pines.

Awesome trails! There’s a ton of distance options. Study the map good and take one with you. You’ll be happy you did. There’s a few water stations out there but bring your own if you can. You can run anywhere from 8 mile loop to a 21 mile loop. It can get a bit confusing because of the many trail options. Just be sure to pay attention. Oh and it’s rocky as shit. They also have showers at the trailhead to cleanup after. Running here is a real treat. I wish the loops were a bit better marked.

This is by far the best trail around if you are looking for up and down terrain. Trails are marked pretty well and lots of different ones to ride on. I think I'm in pretty good shape but this kicked my butt. I rode 18.2 miles and I felt all of it because the up and down. Lots of shade on single track and then a lot of double track trails out of the trees. Plenty of views to look at. Have fun you will love it, and hurt the next day to.

First to Review

We found our way to Rocky Hill Ranch after we ran out of trails at Bastrop State Park just down the road. The 'Ranch' could be better described as a commercial mountain biking and outdoor events facility. By all appearances someone bought a large plot of land and decided to charge a rather steep $20 per person admission for playing around on it. At least on this particular Saturday the fee was assessed on the honor system at a shack of a building that has a pair of primitive bathrooms. Unfortunately, the shed was out of maps, but the trails were fairly well and colorfully marked. Still, they would have provided some peace of mind for a pair of directionally-challenged trail runners out on the 25 miles of mostly single-track mountain bike trails that had a decent amount of elevation change for this side of Austin. The cost aside, Rocky Hill Ranch provided a beautiful (fairly) green reprieve from the ashen Bastrop. Also, it's maddeningly hard to find, since it wasn't on Yelp and the G Maps and AllTrails addresses were wrong.
