Praire Loop #2b Trail is a 2.9 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Bandera, Texas that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, horses, and mountain biking and is best used from September until May. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.

This is a popular route for riding horses. A flat hike through old ranch pastures and along fence lines from when the property was the Merrick Bar-O Ranch. You will be able to see the ranch home built in 1916 as well as several barns. The house is now used by the Park Rangers. When you cross the spring fed West Verde Creek look up and down the creek. It has some very interesting pools and rock ledges. Watch out for livestock as you hike past the barns, you may be sharing the pastures with them. Throughout the whole hike you will have very nice views of the surrounding hills and pastures.

My favorite park near San Antonio. It's very close and very fun park with different lengths of trails to explore. Be careful these trails enter twine or cross paths and you coukd take a wrong turn adding an hour to your hike. Bring a mspecial for sure. I especially like the elevation sign on the 5 trails going up to benches....love this. The views the trails and the feeling of wilderness is really at this park. You will feel free. I've been about 7 times now and have gone on the trail past a barn and rental on property to a long distance trail. Awesome.

Hike from second parking area then take #6 to 5b scenic overlook. It has 3 sets of benches and a elevation sign up there making the hike up a destination for lunch. You will cross over rocks and log stairs with shrubs and some trees for shade if needed. It's a short trail to top but you can make it longer coming back down by taking different turns. Take water if you do this because you can get thirsty quick.
