Peaceful in a light rain. good area to see palmettos. Did not see any wildlife and in mid April not much water in the swampy areas to give a good feel of a swamp.

Take yourself to a land far away...then go eat Luling BBQ. truly a gem in Texas. Easy walk w lots of complex undergrowth. I heard tale of many an armadillo. Saw foliage moving, but still a mystery. Make sure to make your way to the open cabin/pavilion then to the San Marcos River. It's amazing to see the water line on the trees and picture the now still fallen trees rolling along the waterway. Super easy . This hike would best be celebrated with a lovely champagne reminiscent of the complex undergrowth that makes you think of a land before our time. #wineyhikers

Flat prepared gravel trail. I am here in the "winter" with a low of 72. when we arrived it was quiet with minimal foot traffic. Near the the end of our hike, foot traffic doubled. Not a lot of parking spaces.

Drove by Palmetto State Park a number of years ago. My wife, Anita, surprised me yesterday with a "secret" day trip to a place we've promised a return. A short hike, some photos and a picnic lunch. Very nice and relaxing.

This is beautiful well kept trail anyone can enjoy. We’re taking our 7yr old grandson tomorrow, he’ll think he’s in a jungle.

Extremely easy trail. Extremely. Perfect for just strolling, wheel chair accessible. Lots and lots of palmettos. Gave it 3 stars because although it was pretty, I personally wouldn't go on this particular trail again unless I was with someone with a physical handicap.

Super easy trail with plenty of boardwalks. Lots of butterflies/moths and their caterpillars. Take the Palmetto Interpretive Trail that joins the Ottine. W Lots of swamp!

Mountain biking

I will keep the 5 star rating going. It's beautiful. Easy easy for those that mountain bike. However, bridge after bridge after bridge is pretty cool. Watch out for snakes. My wife ran one over.....don't tell her but it was hilarious with legs up above handlebars.

Very well maintained, quite, and unique. Take your time and enjoy. Did almost all of this trail within a loop plus connectors that we did in November. Some day, I would like to see it in it's wet season.

A great trail for a beginner or for families. Six foot wide gravel trail and nice bridges. I walked it and never saw a soul.
