The map shows a loop at the end but there isn’t one. The back side of the loop just ends with a drainage field on one side and an area that the locals use to dump garbage. Pretty sad considering it’s just a flat hot hike out there with little shade and lots of flood debris.

This is a nice trail in that you feel like your in the woods even though you’re in the middle of town. Lots of wildflowers. Fairly easy to maneuver though trail is not always well maintained. Like most Austin city parks, trails are not well marked and unless you’re using the app it’s easy to get off main trail. The map shows a loop at the end however once you arrive at the loop parking area the trail disappears and is overgrown. A lot of trash in that area as well. Worst thing though is dog are permitted in the park without leashes, so there were dogs (and poop) everywhere. I like dogs but having unleashed pit bulls, German shepherds and the like in close proximity to one another is a little unnerving. You can do better at other parks.

This area is a great park in progress. Due to frequent flooding the city gradually purchased the land over the last 10 years or so. Yesterday was the first time we’ve explored the area since the houses have been removed. The park has lots of picnic pavilions and you can see the work in progress everywhere, including the trails. It’s clear it’s not finished, so right now it’s not quite 5 stars, but I’m thinking it will be once it’s all completed.

Very easy, large trail. A little stinky at times because there are sewer vents at the beginning of the trail... but great for an easy ~3 mile run with nice trees. The trail is wide and clear of debris or stumps. Not the most amazing hiking trail, but certainly better than walking or running the same loop around my neighborhood everyday! Would be great for kids and dogs... there is a dog park at the trail head.
