There is a secondary trailhead for this route starting at the MADD Shelter parking. There is a fee to park at the Twin Cove Park. This portion of the hike goes from Twin Cove Park to the MADD Shelter trailhead and back. There are several trailheads along the North Shore Trail, including at: Rockledge Park, Murrell Park, MADD Shelter, and Twin Coves Park. This is a single-track trail. It meanders along the shoreline of Lake Grapevine and sometimes goes through thick hardwood forest. Wildlife viewing opportunities include fox, deer, rabbit and abundant waterfowl and birding year round. NOTE: North Shore Trail is accessible year round, but does close at times due to extreme weather or muddy trail conditions.

Moderate hiking trail w some elevation changes. Trail is not marked very well at some points (trail map signage is missing). A few Mountain bikers today but mostly hikers. Not able to cross water at one point where bridge was out so had to back track at little. Hiked total of 4.7 miles.

Hard to believe you’re in Texas when you’re on this trail. Good trail diversity with many beautiful water views.

I’ve hiked this before with my dog and would consider it moderate, not easy. It is very rocky, has steep inclines and declines, and also very narrow in some areas. There are also several little wooden bridges made by local mtb groups. It’s a beautiful trail and pretty fun since it’s not flat. I can state this is not an “Easy” mtb trail and I likely won’t bike it until we gain a little more experience with mountain biking.

Five minutes from my house!! I love these trails when they are not closed for construction or due to flooding from Lake Grapevine. The main road is a great walk. The trails are great. I could hike for hours
