I took the Lower North Prong Trail from the Mesa Spur to the North Prong Spur. It is very scenic and has some nice geology. The trail crosses over the stream bed a few times and I lost it once. Having a GPS helped. Also make sure to bring water as there won't be any if it has not rained recently.

Great alternative to going up the ridge. Lost the trail once or twice, but that's on us.

great hike. it is a 6.4 mile loop, crossing multiple stream beds. Need waterproof hiking shoes. Scenery is great. You see all the rock layers in the stream beds. Beautiful reds and oranges. From parking lot, hike 1.3 miles to an intersection. Left takes you to Fern Cave, right takes you to this loop.

This was fun. The scenery is great! The only downside was the difficult footing in the creek beds. They can be a real slog.

Nice and easy trail that often crosses the Little Red River giving lots of glimpses at the layers of gypsum. It's worth the few minutes it takes to get on the Mesa spur trail just to go up to the first ledge and take in the view.

loved our first visit to Caprock Canyon. We did the lower trail our first time out and finished the day with lunch at the amphitheater. Enjoyed it very much and look forward to going back soon.
