The Lost Mine trail serves as an outstanding introduction the flora and fauna of the Chisos Mountains, only 1 mile into the hike their is a saddle offering stunning views of Casa Grande and Juniper Canyon. The remainder of the trail climbs steeply in and out of juniper, oak, and pine forest. The trail abruptly levels out at the ridge with superb views of Pine Canyon and the Sierra del Carmen in Mexico.

Must do hike in the Chisos Mountains area. Great chilly weather in the wintertime. Completed December 2016, January 2019

Great trail!! Heavily wooded area. Perfect for the spring/fall hikes. Summer hikes would be awfully hot. The trail winded up vs just a steep incline. Beautiful view definitely worth it!

Great trail, stunning views most of the way up and then of course at the final destination.

It was a very good and doable trail for a family hike. Highly recommend!

Steep uphill but worth it in the end. Amazing view at the top. Plus it is cool to walk the ridge at the top of a mountain

This trail is amazing. Start before dawn and hike using flashlights to see ridiculous sunrise views - and to make sure you snag a parking spot. The view from the top has to be in the top 3 in all of BBNP.

Great trail with beautiful views. Best to get to the parking area early because parking goes quickly.

Beautiful trail with plenty of places to stop and take a photo. The trail is rocky and the wind is a factor during the first half. Take a sweater. Parking is limited. The very last .2 miles jumps to advanced with a steep hike.

Easy trail with big payoff. Wonderful place to watch the sunset. We were lucky enough to snag a parking spot later in the day, however, if we got there any earlier that likely wouldn’t be the case.

We absolutely loved this hike. It is a little steep at the very beginning, but fairly easy after that. Plenty of places to stop off for a rest if you need to. We only made it about 1 mile out because of time, but the views were worth it. Made our trip to Big Bend NP.

My favorite trail I did in the park! It is worth ever single switchback!

So glad I went early, just after sunrise. By the time I left the mountain it was very crowded and there was a line hoping to park in the lot.

Great trail with lots of views. You can get a pretty good sunrise view at the top (not directly) and it will also make sure you get parking. Every other time we drove by it the parking was full.

Awesome day hike trail. As others have said, parking lot fills up fast and you can’t park on the side of the road, only in the parking spots. But a nice climb up top to a wonderful view of the basin. Trail wasn’t too crowded but I’d see another party every 5 minutes or so. Great introduction into the Chisos Basin trail system. For the best views, I’d try to make it to the South Rim or the East Rim but that will require much much more mileage. For true day hikers, this is a great trail.

Make sure you get all the way to the end because it's worth it! Follow the ridge!

Shorter trail that gets to the same elevation as Pinnacle. More traffic on trail but good if you don’t have as much time.

Great trail with beautiful views. Not tons of parking so get there early.

Great trail with spectacular views of the landscape below on both sides. If you can only do one trail when you go to Big Bend this is the one I recommend. The only thing I would consider is to go early because parking at the trailhead is extremely limited. We got there at 7:00 when the sun had just come up and had no trouble parking. When we got back down the trail at 10:00 or so it was completely full. This is a very doable trail for all hiking levels. There are a group of switchbacks towards the end but they are fairly gradual and easy to manage. This was a great hike!

We caught this trail after a storm came through the evening before, so it was very muddy in places. Views from the top will be spectacular on a non-cloudy day, which we were not blessed with. Trail is well maintained and hike is challenging, but not exhausting.

Really great trail. If you can go all the way, the first view you see is the view until the last little bit at the top when you come up over the other side for a different view. Both really great views, but if you aren’t planning to go to the end, don’t push yourself to see more. It’s the same up until the very last little bit. I would hike this again.
