Pretty easy trail, a few hills and some areas are usually flooded but luckily weren’t today! There is one unique water crossing but it was easy thanks to the cable to hold onto.

Over all this was a great hike. The trail was in great shape even with all the rain that we had before and after the snow and ice storms. There are parts of the trail that are flooded as of 03/01/2021 and extra care should be taken when traveling down them. Right now is the time to hike this trail if you are looking for a little adventure in your hiking.

I hiked to the dam approximately 3 miles from the trailhead. The trail was in good shape. There were only a few places that were muddy. I hiked this with my basset hound Norman and we both had a great time. The trail runs along a creek and I saw several small ponds along the way. I passed a few hikers and a couple of trail runners. I’m glad I finally got an opportunity to hike a small portion of this trail.

Went on 1/28 around 10AM, trail was in mostly great condition aside from 1.5 miles to about 2 miles trail gets a little muddy, can be avoided though. For the first mile it follows a creek so if you bring along your dog they have somewhere to drink or play as well as about 3 miles in the lake they can go swimming. Trail was shaded mostly and was pretty easy to navigate due to few junctions and easy markings to follow

Had to stop because the trail was too flooded. But everything before that was in good shape, it’s absolutely beautiful out in the trees! Saw a few cardinals and thought I saw a rabbit running away.

Beautiful day, trail in good shape. A little muddy in on drainage section, but not an issue staying to side of the trail. Seen several red cardinals.

This was the first time hiking this section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail and I decided to take one of the side trails. Forest Service Road 286 leg is a nice easy short trail with lots to see.

We enjoyed hiking this section @ starting 7:15 under cloudy skies. This is a very shady section that runs along a creek with a bridge spanning a deep ravine at about the 1.5mi. One time on the way back we heard then saw a decent size hog. Though I'm sure they're there we didn't see one snake!

Visiting Huntsville from Fort Worth. Loved the beauty of these woods! Nice trail, but lots of muddy areas that we weren't expecting and weren't willing to trudge through. Check yourself for ticks as we found one crawling on my girlfriend at the end of our hike. We'd come back and try it again on a dryer day!

It was a great experience as there is mountain biking trails which is what my crew used these trails for. A lot of uphill climbs but the descends make it worth while!

Fairly good trail. Nice and flat for the first mile or so. A few trees fallen across the path and one creek that has to be crossed without a bridge, but a great beginner hike!
