My husband and I completed this hike with our dog. For the majority of the route, the trail is clearly marked with flagging. I'd describe the difficulty level as moderate as there is little elevation gain, however, there are some stream crossings and many large downed trees that require a decent level of physical fitness to climb over. This trail has not been recently maintained and as such, there are a few sections where downed trees and/or plant growth have made it nearly impossible locate the trail. With decent navigational skills it's reasonably easy to rejoin, but I recommend bringing as compass or GPS. Be prepared for the wildlife--ticks are prolific and unavoidable as the overgrown areas leave you in near constant contact with the flora, and we saw several large water moccasins along the route. This is a great route for breaking in or testing out new gear, but overall, there's little reward in the way of scenery for the effort of the hike.

Over grown badly, downed trees, snakes, mosquitos bad when you stop. I entered the trail off 149 taking a nice 1 mile hike to the loop around 8am. Small parking lot and easy to find trailhead. I started the loop heading clockwise from the trailhead point on this map. There are some muddy spots and several large trees blocking the trail. A few spots were over grown before I hit a section about 2 miles in where you couldn’t even see the trail in the grasses. You’ll also have to leave the trail to go around a downed tree. At this point I had already seen 3 water moccasins, one was a massive fellow in the middle of the trail on a downed tree so I turned around to find a better trail.

Great trail with great views! However, be prepared for a longer hike than advertised. We logged over 12 miles on this hike. The trail also needs some maintenance, lots of fallen trees and overgrown areas. Forest views are very nice!

A bit over grown in some areas but not too bad. Most stream crossings have sticks or the water is low. Couple of muddy spots but not too bad to walk around. I logged 12miles, but that included 1.25 each way to trailhead 4. So expect it to be closer to 10miles. Not much scenery just a walk thru heavy forest for the most part. Nice and shaded
