Another great nature walking trail in the city. Perfect place to get back to a nature setting. A nature and wildlife photography dream without driving for several hours to a National Park. There are plenty of little alcoves along the main walking path to capture all sorts of wildlife. If you need to test or break in new gear this is the place to do it.

High traffic. Lots of interstate noise. But still very nice. Few places to duck off the main track. Saw some armadillo. Probably come out super early next time to see some other wildlife.

Picturesque. Let down by constant road noise from the highway.

This trail provides both a smooth level paved trail for 1.8 miles and about equal the distance in unpaved trails, but you need to check map or watch for where unpaved trails begin. All unpaved trails are loops with the exception of the Eagle Scout Trail which follows the main trail for a little while. Bikes frequent both the paved and unpaved trails, so be aware of them when walking/running. It was dry with all trails open today, a bit busy, but enjoyable!

Walking

Easy 1.7 mile paved trail (but you can get more “off road” here or there to add distance), very flat, but well maintained, with restrooms, water stations along the way as well as benches etc. I’d say it’s 50/50 shaded under trees vs. open sun... Extremely well maintained by park staff, the lake is nice... lots of walkers, runners, kayakers, people fishing... loads of birds, turtles, snakes, even seen the occasional deer... it’s a nice bit of nature so near the highway! I love to walk there after work. Connects to Cypress Creek Trail (But not sure exactly where/ how extensive). TX Parks does lots of programs there (ie 1-2 times a month free kayaking where they supply kayak, paddle, life vest etc.) hcp4.net/parks/kmp

Running

This is a very nice flat trail to run on. My favorite part was how shady most of the trail is. Really helps keep the temperature cooler. Very clean, safe, and peaceful (except the stretch by the highway).

This is a nice, dog-friendly trail! There’s some shaded areas and being around the lake helps cool you down a bit. Boy Scouts had Eagle Scout projects here so that’s great to see! There’s water coolers filled with water so you can bring your own bottle to fill up. There are places to drop off your tangled fishing lines and drop off/use plastic bags to pick up after your dogs! If you have lots of plastic bags at home, bring them to this park and place them in these containers while you’re walking! All thanks to the Boy Scouts!!! (I was a Girl Scout who’s gold award involved a park so this means a lot to me!!) Places to fish and kayak but no rentals

New favorite spot! Connected from Kickerillo to Cypress Creek and met a great rider from the start who helped me throughout my journey today! Drew, if you’re reading this, I appreciate you! I hope the entire Biking Community is like him. He set a great standard and showed me all the trail heads/connectors! Loads of fun today!! 5/5/19

I enjoy this trail because it is slightly longer then some of the near by trails, by taking the extra turns and taking extra paths I was able to get my loop to be right at 2 miles, easy, clean, heavily trafficked, it got dark on me so I was expecting to see no one but there were still people finishing up. Beautiful views and saw some cool looking. animals.
