Great trail, rugged, very well marked and tree, shrubs and rock formations are labeled, so. very informative. This loop and The Rocky Ledges loop are short, but have some high steps and drops. Great views of the basin and Pease River!
Nice short hike with nice views. Also some interactive signs about the landscape
My husband, toddler son, and I stopped by for about eighty minutes on a Sunday afternoon because it was not far out of the way on our road trip. We had a picnic lunch then did the juniper ridge trail to stretch our legs. The trail isn't all that hard. It has a fair number of steps but no difficult footing for normal healthy people and even my two year old was able to go up and down the steps on his own for the most part. You get some feel for doing actual hiking in a place that is otherwise mostly flat and you get a nice view of the lake and get to see some cool fossilized sand ripples. Because of covid the museum was closed and so were some camping areas, some but not all of the restrooms, and at least one fishing pier. Overall it was a nice place to eat and stretch our legs. It's not as beautiful as the more famous state parks but it had nice facilities and I would probably come back to camp one day.
This was an educational trail with signs along the way that tell you about the plants and rock formations. Get place at the halfway point to sit and enjoy the view while you’re eating lunch. I would definitely recommend this trail.
