Wonderful trail with spectacular views. Bring plenty of water and calories. I brought 2 gallons and around 1500 calories, used about 1.5 gallons and 1000 calories. Start early. The trail gives you a bit of everything, from desert to mountain, as others have noted. It's a bit of a drive out to the trailhead, too. I went as far as Robbers Roost campsite, which is a few miles down the road, in my Subaru Outback. I mountainbiked the rest of the way the next morning because the rangers said the road might require higher clearance and 4 wheel drive after RR campsite. However, I easily could've gotten to the trailhead with attentive driving though (mountainbiking it was fun tho). Just make sure you got at least 8 inches of clearance and GOOD tires. Enjoy!

Rugged trail with huge elevation gain when hiking out and back. Gorgeous views overlooking the valley from the peaks.
