This trail has signs along the way honoring military personnel that have been awarded the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor, along with descriptions of how they earned this award. This is an urban trail that winds through several neighborhoods, crossing several city streets at well-marked crosswalks. There are several bridges that cross a creek, lots of shade trees over the path, and the loop end of the trail goes by an active railroad. The trail is paved through its entirety. The trail can be accessed at either end and there is ample parking at both trailheads.

This is a very well-maintained paved walkway through a park-like setting. If it's your first time, allow some time to read the numerous signs along the way that tell of the heroism of the Medal of Honor awardees. As a bonus, a half block from the north trailhead is the memorial to the Great Gainesville Hanging for the history buffs, and a dog park a couple hundred yards north of the trailhead if your furry friend is accompanying you.
