This stretch of the Guadalupe river is very popular as the State's premier trout fishing stream. The Guadalupe River is the Southernmost sustainable trout fishery in the nation.

Great trail that follows the river. Lots of good fishing spots along the way.

Nice local trail! Trail is dry. At .5 miles you don’t go into the river but walk on a ridge 15 ft above the river.

Great trail for you and doggone. plenty of areas to access the river and let your fur baby get a drink and swim. Mostly shaded and not difficult to traverse.

Beautiful little trail. My dog and I like to take this trail every Sunday. I only wish it was longer.

Great little inclines (about 100 ft elevation gain), plenty of shade and follows along the Guadalupe river which makes it just a few degrees cooler. Weekdays are much quieter in the mornings. Clean trails and there are bags at the trailhead if you want to do your part and help pick up around the trail. Beautiful, clear water and you can indulge after working up a sweat at this nice little trail.

Kid friendly - quick in and out. Can access river front and dip your feet in the icy cold water! Refreshing after the hike. Recommend combining with another trail of looking for miles or steps - relatively flat trail.

I've been down this trail probably about 10 times so far - it's close to my house and I like to fly fish this area. This little river trail is the best way to access the Guadalupe River just south of the Canyon Lake Dam. The trail is almost completely shaded and can get pretty muddy if there was any recent rain, although it's generally pretty dry. There are several washed out areas, but they all have well-built bridges over them. There are no particularly steep sections, but there are quite a few places with several steps up or down. About half way down this trail, you get start to see little branch-offs to the river - this area is your best river access spot with a large (several hundred feet) section of flat rocky shore as long as the water isn't too high.

Nice trail. Not sure if I would call it a moderate trail (more on the easy side). Path ways are cleared well and there is shade on most of the trail. Good for younger kids.

We went in the middle of the day and despite the number of cars in the parking lot, we saw very few people on the trail. It was well shaded and cleared out. Will definitely do this one again. If the weather is right, plan to pack a swim bag. Lots of places to walk over to the river and hop in.

Such a pretty trail. Up and down. My fitbit registered 22 floors after just an hour into my hike.

Crowded on the weekend and very narrow, makes for passing others difficult. Very pretty along the river. Too crowded for our tastes of hiking, came across a few people with aggressive dogs. Would not return this this trail.
