Wide, nearly flat loop around Elm Lake. Great bird and wildlife viewing, especially in the winter: I saw egrets, coots, herons, ibis, and cormorants, among others. Probably the easiest and best birding hike at Brazos Bend.

Love this trail! We have been coming to Brazos Bend twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring since my oldest was four (he is now 21). Awesome hike and you get to see alligators, turtles, snakes, bull frogs and various birds. A photographers paradise!

Gorgeous, easy hike -- just watch your step. There were dozens of gators, which was incredible to see, but a little scary when you'd catch one hiding in tall grass out of the corner of your eye. Wish we would have brought binoculars for the birds!

Easy trail with a great chance to view wildlife / gators! Good trail for Brazos Bend (or any trail) newbies. Wide trail path with lots of scope for sharing the trail with runners, bikers, dogs and the like. Lots of viewing points as well.

Fun and tons of Alligators! Went on the Elm Lake trail to the Spillway trail then up the observation tower then back down the Spillway trail ending on the Elm Lake trail again. That totaled out to about 2.5 miles give or take.
