Elder Lake Loop is a 1.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Kilgore, Texas that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and running.
A walk around the Elder Lake Park with an option to go off on a wooden boardwalk. Accessibility: This concrete, asphalt, and packed gravel trail is estimated to range from 5-8 feet wide. The slope may be steep in some sections and is estimated to range from 0-11%. The steepest sections, estimated 8-11% grade, are located at the 0.4 and 0.7 mile mark, along the far eastern edge of the lake at Synergy Blvd. Please use caution during this portion, especially if using mobility equipment like a stroller or wheelchair. There are at least 2 ADA-compliant car parking spots with access aisles at the trailhead.
Lovely trail for an afternoon walk or jog. The trail is wide and flat with crushed gravel. It's only a mile long, but the lake is a nice feature. Really close to a major road, so there is traffic noise.
A short but beautiful hike. I sure wish people would wear their masks in the restrooms though.
While it is a short hike at around a mile (almost a "stroll through a city park"... which is really what it is), the trail is very maintained, and mostly (if not all) paved. It's also a good fishing spot-- not too much to get your line caught on. The only thing that disappointed me was that I was actually trying to collect plant specimens, and it appears as though many species I was looking for that were there a couple of years ago, have since been removed. Overall, not a bad park, but didn't find what I was looking for with the plant collecting.
Beautiful lakeside trail. Pollen was thick coming out of the pine trees
