The Chisos Escalada is a challenging and but rewarding route that links together 5 trails to bring hikers and trail runners from below the Chisos Mountains up to the very top, and all the way back down. Whereas most hikers drive up into the Chisos Basin to begin their hikes at a higher elevation, this route starts on the lower desert scrub and grassland floor, with the mighty Chisos Mountains looming in the near distance. The route includes two classic Big Bend trails, the Window Trail and the Emory Peak Trail, providing a rich and formidable experience in the Chisos Mountains.
