Last hike in park. Picked this one due to being moderate before a 12 hour drive home. For some it may be monotone of a walk. For me a pure walk with nature. Started early and was only one out there. Nothing but silence. trail is all rocky surface but marked well. Take plenty of water. Desert heats up quick. 2 hour round trip. Don’t recommend doing entire walk across bottom in summer. Be smart...too hot

The Chimneys are beautiful. There's native writings on the chimneys themselves and the sunset is incredible there. We did an overnight where we slept in the protection of the rock formations and it was an unforgettable experience. Great hike for all.

I would skip this unless you are going to walk the entire trail. I thought that we would get better views as we walked but there were bushes blocking views. Interesting plants but views don't change or get better. We hiked about 45 minutes and turned around and walked back. No shade and can be warm even in winter.

Hot even on a cold day. Absolutely no shade. Ok for interesting flora

A rather long and monotonous hike through the desert, to reach some Indian petroglyphs and rock outcrops. The petroglyphs are at he base of the southern-most pinnacle, with an unmarked but distinct path leading to it. https://hikingtheworld.blog/2017/10/28/the-best-of-big-bend-texas/#The-Chimneys

Pretty boring hike but worth doing if you love petroglyphs

Good trail, couldn't find Chimney Arch or any Indian drawings though

This is an excellent hike to make a trail run. We started at the trail head on Old Maverick Rd and ran to the Chimneys then on to the paved road at Ross Maxwell. Total out and back was almost 15 miles. It was fairly flat with some gentle inclines. If you're a fan of the desert this is a great run. Lots of good energy flowing...

Easy hike. I recommend as an overnight. The stars are second to none. There are some cool artifacts at the chimney rocks too.
