I stayed in the primitive camp sites for four days over this past weekend. I had such a great time I didn't want to leave. The trails are well maintained and marked clearly. They total about 5.5 miles if you do all of them. I walked up on 6 doe grazing in the trail one evening. The camp site was perfect. The primitive sites are on the water very secluded, quiet.

Purtis Creek State Park is a beautiful park located in Eustace, Texas. The park has a great fishing lake, RV camping sites and several primitive camping sites. The primitive sites are all waterfront and very secluded. The park has a 4.3 mile trail system open to bikes and foot traffic all well marked by colors green, blue and red. There is also a 1.7 mile loop open to foot traffic only around the primitive campsites. The terrain is primarily flat with little elevation change that wonders through pine forest and thicket. All trails are well maintained. In my opinion the most scenic trail in the park is the 1.7 mile loop around the primitive camp sites. It's a nice place to take the family if your in the East TX or DFW area. I live near by the park and visit their often. Great place for day trips! See you on the trail!

Trails are really easy, great to take a family with young children, if you're lucky you'll catch a busy beaver and tons of other wildlife. This is one of the families go to for local kayaking

There are now three separate trails which total about 5 miles or more. This is one of my favorite places to hike. Anyone can hike this trail, just adjust how far you hike to your level ,because the trail is in good shape.
