HikingFeeGreat!

Took the Bauer trail directly to River - very sunny and wished we had gone through the woods instead. Had our two pups and they plopped right in the river to cool off. Stunning picturesque river; took wooded trails back, loved moss hanging from the trees. Will go back.

More beautiful tham you can imagine. Hanging moss, various level terrain, nice bench placement, and plenty of trail indicators. Definitely take the side trek to the river and observation point. We completed the Bauer Unit which combines several trails. 6.23 miles car to trails. On retrospect this trail ending would pair lovely with a full bodied Chardonnay. #wineyhikers

HikingGreat!

Approximately 3.5 mile loop down and back. The Bauer trail gets you close to the river. You can hike down the bank from trail if you want river access. According to the state park map, the Hofheinz trail originates by the parking lot however it is not marked. Instead you have to take the Bauer trail down the hill and bear right on the Hofheinz connector to get on the Hofheinz trail (well marked). The Hofheinz trail connects with the Bauer trail near the river. However, there currently is no marker where these two trails intersect but the trail is obvious (well worn)

Great trail! Intermittent shade and sun. River was a luscious place to rest and let the dogs play.

It was pretty, flat and had some nice variation to it. All of the leaves have fallen though, I imagine this one is best in late October.

Nice trail. We took the “Connector” trail to Hofheinze and had good shade from the trees almost the entire way down to the river.

This is a great hike with easy to follow trails. The drive to the park is beautiful and so is the river. It is a long walk for the kids so I wouldn’t suggest it if you are looking for a nice, relaxing river day. The trails are not busy and there is an abundance of wildlife.

Nice route that goes by an old ranch house, then goes through some beautiful fields, and then finishes with some rolling hills through the forest. We hiked this with our doggos after doing Bamberger and Curry Creek to make it about five miles total.

Nice easy trail with some terrain. I hiked down Hofheinz and swung a right towards where Bauer ends. We stopped on the rock beach and swam with the dog for about an hour. I caught three fish and we packed up and hike back up Bauer to the parking lot. It was hot at about 97F, but there was plenty of shade and it actually felt nice when the breeze came. We saw some cool wildlife, including yellow orchids, a brown leaf-shaped tree frog, a 4ft snake (I believe it was a non-poisonous rat snake), a multiple white-tail deer. All-in-all, I would do this hike again.

I loved hiking to the river but did not get to hike the Hofheinz trail because it was overgrown with grass. I was worried about rattlesnakes.

This trail is on the north side of Guadalupe River State Park. You need to go all the way out of the park and then back through some small roads to the other side of the river to get to it. It's a nice set of trails up there. The end of the Bauer Trail is awesome, you get right down to the Guadalupe River and the views are great. It's quite lovely. Watch out for snakes, red ant hills and other wildlife.

Bike most of the trail but a few spots were just too rocky to ride over. The flatter spots were moderate riding condition, but nothing smooth accept the street in the beginning and end.
