HikingGreat!

Hiked nearly all of Fort Parker State Park today. Don’t let anyone dissuade you from hiking Baines Creek Trail—it wasn’t overgrown or brushy at all. It doesn’t *technically* connect to the rest of the park, but one can make it work... Plenty of wildlife (armadillos & blue heron & plenty of bird-watching available), and not many people at all. Saw just 5 other folks during my entire hike, which seems low for a Friday morning. Elevation change wasn’t bad at all—great for a stroll or, in my case, a nice fast hike!

Trail has not been kept maintained, Couldn't even enjoy the hike because of the overgroth, spider webs, and biting flies.

Really love hiking State Park Trails. And, it looks like several others enjoyed this trail. But, I’ll be calling it The Trail of Plagues from now on. Spiders are out of control - spent the entire trail waving a stick in front of me to keep most of them off me. Walked through one overgrown area and had the ground begin to move - small frogs, no biggie. Feral hogs scared the snot out of me as I ran into another spider web (too bad there’s no video!). On the way back barely brushed a branch with my right shoulder and was stung 4 times bu wasps or yellow jackets , not sure which. Arm hurt for 3 hours. No scenic overlooks at all. Everything’s overgrown. Glad I left the dog at home this morning.

Good trail - well maintained and well marked - shady in the morning for a large percentage - use bug spray - we both had to pick off a couple of ticks

Good trail with ups and downs. The view at the end isn’t all that amazing. Partially shaded most of the way.

Nice and secluded. Didn’t see another hiker despite being there the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The trail map you receive at the state park office says there is a nice scenic overlook; you should know that the overlook is roughly 2 miles in. You will probably see a lot of ground that looks disturbed, as if somebody has tilled it. That's actually where wild hogs have been digging for food. There must be a lot of them in the area. Overall a nice hike.

Walking

Took a nice leisurely walk on the Springfield trail with my dog. I know Bruno had a good time and so did I.
