RunningGreat!

The trail connects the south edge of the Goliad town and the Angel of Goliad Statue. The trail is basically paved or wooden bridge(north part). It is a good option to see Zaragoza Birthplace, Presidio La Bahía, and Market House Museum.

HikingBugsGreat!

Hiked the trail from the park to both trail ends. The trail end in town was just a block from the historic town square so we went off trail to tour the square. Sad it was Sunday so all the shops were closed but there are many historical markers, architecture, and sites to see such as the hanging tree and a marker telling of a tornado in 1902. The other trail end has also many historic sites one being the birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza and the Fannin Monument. Mosquitos were really bad so be prepared, early September. Trail is a paved trail with wooded bridges and platforms near river. Nice trail, easy to hike mostly shaded. Get out and hike!

Well maintained. Northern end has a lot of boardwalks and shade. Southern end is more exposed. Wear sunscreen.

Great little trail, shaded in the state park area, cool historical stuff to see at top near La Bahia. I like to park and enter near the community center (walking distance to historic downtown square).

One of the best trails in the region. The elevation changes are a nice surprise in the mostly-flat coastal plains of South Texas. Lots of places to view the river as well as crossing it near the presidio. Abundant birds especially in the wooded areas close to town. Park at the south trailhead (Fannin Monument) and head to the north end at Branch River Park near downtown (restrooms available) and back.
