Beautiful rugged trail with sprawling winter views. The parking area gate to the summit of Big Frog Mountain is 4.4 miles with 2,500 ft of elevation gain. If you do this hike on a cold-ish winter day, do not underestimate how cold and windy it will be on the ridgeline. There's a lot of downed trees and overgrowth but it's worth it.

Thick woods and up hills. This area is overlooked in my opinion. Awesome kayaking below and tons of trails to venture out in, seems like a bit of the unknown to many.

Just a note to those using this App. where it says you are at the end of the trail marked by the red line, you are at least 2.5 miles from the 4100 ft summit. you have to continue up some very steep rugged terrain to reach the top.

Narrow trail in places and overgrown, but a nice hike. We took this trail and connected to another (grassy gap?). Total 7.8 miles. Nice views in winter and very peaceful

I adore this place. It's so peaceful. however, because of how deep it goes and how quiet it does get, I wouldn't go by yourself. That being said, it's a nice hike if you've got a dog or a friend as a tagalong.

Just a heads up for anyone reading the reviews to hike Wolf Ridge. Don't go on these directions or Lucas's review. He wasn't on Wolf Trail. Totally wrong. Directions is to Rock Creek Trail. Don't want you to get mixed up. Happy Hiking

Solitude....That is what you find along this trail. Trailhead is in the middle of nowhere and the trail itself leads deep into the Cohutta Wilderness. I have hiked this trail in summer on cleanup patrol. If I had not had a group cleaning the trail as we went, going would have been very tough. Winter, early spring, and late fall are the prime times to visit this off the beaten path trail. The trail is narrow but easy walking in most places. It runs the ridges allowing for breathtaking winter views off either side. Downside to the great views are the bitter winds of winter along these ridges. 3 years ago I was near the top of Frog Mtn. when a sudden snow blew in. Huge wet flakes fell for a couple of hours transforming the landscape into something from a fairy tale. Yet after that experience i do not hike this trail alone anymore.
