Great trail with quite a few waterfalls. Some sections are steep but manageable! I’d definitely bring water shoes or sandals for exploring the waterfalls

Great hike with some amazing views. Much more treacherous than expected. Steep inclines....very muddy due to recent rains but very worth it. Hiked all 3 trails......would definitely go back.

it was really fun

This place was absolutely gorgeous. It was a fairly easy hike. Some spots were muddy. But it was pretty worth it. We saw 2 snakes on the trail. But it was absolutely gorgeous

Overall extremely beautiful hike just be prepared with the recent rain it is extremely muddy and slick in spots. When you get to the entrance you have the choice to either go left or right if you go left it takes you to the winding stairs faster if you go right it is a paved path for quite a bit but then it gets extremely muddy and uneven there is a tree down on the path so you have to cut around it and go through a wooded area and then you go down a steep slick descend because of the recent rain you’ll slide down would probably recommend if you have small children to take the left path even though you’ll be going down some rocks it’ll be less dangerous than taking the right path.

can be advanced in some areas. I felt bad for people I knew wouldn’t make it through some points. The water fall was a disappointment but the hike was awesome. We did all the different trails you can do. Took 2 hours. slippery in some areas.

Beautiful trail to explore! I can see how it would be bad if it was wet. Prepare to let your kids play in the stream! It’s so beautiful.

Bring waterproof shoes with good traction. Highly recommend. Not for beginners, it gets steep. Several people turned back because the trails are slick and steep after the rain.

Loved it! So pretty! They have done an awesome job with the trail! A tiny bit challenging but not too hard by any means! We saw people of all ages and sizes doing just fine! Will be back for sure! Note: I agree with other reviewers on the muddy part. Be careful if there was a recent big rain and wear shoes with lots of traction!

Great trail and the connecting trails make for a good day hike. It can get muddy after a rain so dress properly!

Winding Stairs is one of the most beautiful Tennessee natural areas west of the Upper Cumberland. I was absolutely flabbergasted by its beauty. Several streams descend and waterfall through a winding gorge surrounded by a lush medium-growth hardwood forest. The scenery looks like something you’d find in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are many more spur trails, hollows and waterfalls to explore than this route covers. Expect a couple of stream crossings and a good deal of elevation gain. Totally worth it! Note on the directions to the trailhead: The navigation coordinates actually take you to an apartment complex. You need to turn off of Highway 52 onto a long gravel road (Nature Trail Way).

Moderate to difficult trails. Some steep areas. These steep areas would not be passable after a rain...too slippery. Wear proper footwear. Beautiful views of old growth forest and waterfalls. We saw a snake and several cool large bugs on a few of the trials. Our family of 4 (two sons ages 6 & 9) spent about 3.5 hrs hiking all of the trails. The park has updated signage marking trails. Take a picture of the trail map before heading out. I suggest starting off with Cascades Trail.

Very nice trail options. Narrow trails with lots of ups and downs. But nothing hard. It gets your heart rate up while you enjoy nature! Definitely coming back to explore more.

Trail is opened up again. There are 2 new trails including Jacob's Ladder which is hard and Milk Pail trail which made my hike 3.9 miles. The views are beautiful but this is a tough hike. Also, there is a road to the trail head that marks the park, just after Taco Bell.

Amazing hidden trail in the heart of Lafayette. Very few people. Definitely try Jacob’s Ladder!

This trail is open again and we are so thankful! Beautiful trail down the gorge to the water and back up. Steep and slick at points after a rain.

Recommend this trail for a nice couple hour hike. Can be made shorter or longer. Moderate trail, if you want a challenge hit Jacobs ladder! Southern Cascades were gorgeous, milk pail trail offers a nice walk down the stone bottom creek (suggest going barefoot). Nice overlooks for other Cascades!

Got very off trail. Fun place though. Bad recording in AllTrails. The direction function does not bring you to the right trailhead. The roads don’t seem to be on the map yet.

Beautiful place. Quick hike yet you can make it harder. Make sure you start at the right trail head. We went a little off trail . It will be a great place to explore in the spring and summer!

Great trail. Do not do the Jacobs Ladder unless you are pretty fit. I started at the bottom and was easy, toward the top it is straight up and slick this time of year and not marked towards the top. Fantastic.

Gem of Macon County! Only takes about 45 min to an hour, depending how much the beauty of the area stops you.

It was a great trail! It had a nice dirt path and had wooden rails in the steep parts to help you down. I only had to cross the creek once. All and all I enjoyed it and recommend trying it out.
