The Tennessee Riverwalk is a 8.7 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Lupton City, Tennessee that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
A popular paved trail that crosses several bridges and has lots of art and history. Many bathrooms along the way. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and typically at least five feet wide. The estimated grade is mostly gentle (all 5% or less).
When you get to Hunter Museum don’t go down the steps to under the bridge. There is a homeless camp under the bridge. Stay on the road. Great view of the City, and river.

Trail is closed right past Fishing Park behind Chattanooga State Community College toward Chickamauga Dam and near the Rowing Center at The Boathouse toward downtown Chattanooga due to the high water of the Tennessee River. Traffic on the open section of the trail today is light so it was a great day to get out and ride. South Chick Creek Greenway trail is taped off at Riverpoint.
The trail is paved and clean. They maintain all the landscaping nicely. I have used this trail to walk my dogs and it is very dog friendly. My favorite way to traverse the miles is by bike. You can rent one in several areas along the path and on Wednesday the bikes are free to rent (you just need a credit card to sign in). The trail is mostly flat with just a couple of areas with easy inclines. You can begin at the dam and bike to Rembrandts for coffee and a lemon bar ( a favorite destination of mine).
Fantastic place for any type of run; long, speed, or easy. This place can’t be beat! Start at the dam for pancake flat miles. Out and back up to 12 miles total with no elevation gain. For more of a challenge (and beautiful river views), start downtown and incorporate the bridges into your run.
