I went to stone door for the first time yesterday and it was amazing! The views are so good and the hike was bearable even for someone with a knee injury. They had clean bathrooms and a water station. It was a nice time.

We went right after a severe weather system came through so there were numerous large trees down. One one place on the trail that you had to climb over downed trees. Nice waterfall and overlook.

A partially paved area to begin the trail then primitive and wide. There's a connection to longer trails near Stone Door. Several overlooks. A scramble to and the the Stone Door.

Easy hike. First quarter mile is paved, the rest is well-kept and fairly flat save for the actual steps down to the valley. Stunning views.

Great views at the end of the trail. It is a bit rocky with plenty of roots as trip hazards. Took my pregnant wife and she loved it! Easy and fun afternoon hike.

Stone Door is definitely a favorite. Got to the ranger station just before the sun came up so we could watch the sunrise. This trail is definitely easy (even in the dark) because half of it is paved and the other half is pretty flat. It was wet and foggy but was still a beautiful sight to watch darkness turn to daylight.

The hike out to Stone Door is pretty easy. If continue through the door formation, is very very steep. We also did the short loop to Laurel Falls... steep stairs down, and a longer but less steep back.

This is a fairly easy trail and it's relatively short, but well worth doing because the Stone Door is just so cool! If you're doing this with children, keep a firm hold on them, we weren't hiking with kids, but there were sheer dropoffs that made us wince at the thought.

Easy, short hike with big pay offs. If you're in the area, just do it. Able bodied grandmas and kids alike can do this one and enjoy fantastic views. Just watch your steps!

This trail is the obviously a “must hike” trail. As a visitor hiking you would want to see the stone door it amazing. The SD(Stone Doo) trail is well marked with cool little bridges and heavy tree/forest canopy. When arriving at SD and make sure you do your hike clockwise as to not have to end with very vertical like steps that stone door trail provides but views are great! I hiked SDoor to Big Creek Gulf and planned on taking Big Creek Rim back from alum gap around 4 miles left in my hike at this point because I started clockwise with SD trail to BCG(which is for very experienced hikers) and after a long decision I cheated lol and took the Laurel trail back to Rangers Shack. Laurel was lovely after the brutal but great hike I had just trekked. Just under 9 miles was the distance of my travels and I had over 1000 feet in elevation changes. Allow plenty of time if doing the loop trail like me! Start no latter than 10:00am (July) The hike is just under a 5 hour adventure and 8 and a half miles of rocky scramble and up and down difficult rock footing. Unforgiving newbies I serious! Don’t think you’re Les Stroud and head out and get killed

Went with four kids (8,6,4,2) and was quite easy. Views were wonderful with not a lot of effort spent. Steps are great to see, but then you turn around and troop right back up. Nowhere on trail did feel nervous about kids running up ahead within reason and the rock at top was wide and great for pictures.
