Rylander Cascades Trail is a 1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Sparta, Tennessee that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
Very short walk to this falls. Easily accessible after visiting Lost Creek Falls.
Well maintained! Even though it hadn’t rained in 3 days, cascades were still flowing! After a rain, it would be impressive, no doubt!
This is a nice little waterfall/cascade on the way to Virgin Falls via Lost Creek. It’s not a large area to explore but it’s quite beautiful. The hike is relatively flat the entire route, and the trail length is short enough for almost anyone. The path is often covered with leaf littler most of the year but remains easy to follow. The trailhead is accessible across the road from a small gravel parking spot.
Follow the signs and tree markers, which will take you directly to the Rylander Cascades. Today, a Tuesday morning in mid-May, we had the trail and cascades to ourselves. It is a flat hike however muddy, rocky and with many tree roots. We were glad to have our hiking poles along. There were two dry creek crossings. The cascades are spectacular. We haven’t had any recent rains but the cascades flowed. We continued to hike about one mile past the cascades. It was an up-hill and moderately challenging assent but beautiful hike in the woods. It parallels the creek and there were several run-offs/mini falls.
An easy ascent that grows rocky and dense as you approach the cascades. I hiked here after two days of heavy rains, so the cascades were full and lively.
