The path up is really a very good gravel forest road that winds from the entrance to Rocky Fork into the back country. It follows the creek for about half a mile then turns up the mountain. You reach the top of the climb at about mile 4 then gently descend to the lake at mile 6.   The Birchfield Camp Lake can be seen on Maps satellite view and as you can see it is a very remote spectacular mountain top lake! You might see grouse and turkey along with deer and bear tracks.   Overall, this was a great trip. If you want to be all by yourself in a 10,000 acre wilderness, this trip is highly recommended!
