Overall it was an interesting hike. There were some interesting stone formations in the first mile but nothing too special. Pretty good climbs up and down the hills using switchbacks. One small problem. I brought my dog along 50# or more. There’s a 8 foot ladder to get down a rock face. I had to carry him down. I did not want to carrying him back up so I took a bypass to Black Mountain Road. It was a nice walk.

Beautiful rock formations and colorations will make you feel like you’re in Utah or Colorado rather than Tennessee.

Another hidden gem in big south fork! 1 of the best trails I’ve found in East TN. Really doesn’t feel like you are in TN! Beautiful overlooks. Well maintained. Only saw 4 ppl on the whole trail.

HikingGreat!

Fantastic trail - I've driven right past it many times to get to Charit Creek/Twin Arches,Slave Falls and so glad a couple friends planned to hike it and let me tag along. We did the entire trail and overlooks. 6.3 really becomes around 7 if you do those spurs and all are well worth it. A couple times we felt like we were in a different state, as another reviewer of this trail said also. One minute, felt like Grand Canyon and a few minutes later, we would drop into a rainforest climate. It was stunning, every step we took. So many beautiful rock formations and the circle bar arch was just too cool! Highly recommend this hike...well-marked, well cared for though we experienced a few spots that growth was occurring on the trail. But minimal - such a lovely escape from the noise and hustle of everyday life!

HikingBlowdownBugsGreat!

I followed the alltrails map and got by just fine. There was a single unmarked fork at the end but just look at the map and it's pretty obvious which direction to go. I can't say enough about all the different rock formations. Really felt like I was in a completely different state at some points. Overlooks were fantastic. I would highly recommend this trail. Just bring water and be wary of the incline on the way back.

This is a great trail! The rock cliffs and formations are awesome!Do the spur trails to the overlooks. They are great!I got about 7 miles total using the AllTrails app.Take plenty of bug spray right now. That was the only negative. They were awful. Can’t wait to go back when the leaves are changing.

Did this trail on the 3rd of May. It was a third choice but with Big South Fork closed I decided to hit this trail. Turned out to be a great hike. Perfect weather. 7.47 miles and 1204 elevation climb. Make sure you take the spur to the overlook. Well worth the climb. There are parts of the trail that make you feel like the Arizona, parts that are like the Northwest, a waterfall off the trail that you have to drop packs and shimmy up rocks that reminded me of Maui. And a view down the canyon of beautiful Tennessee hills.

A wonderful hike through an area that is pristine. A trail that is well maintained offering various features as you hike through the sandstone canyon. The hike itself is very engaging with semi-steep terrain as you descend into the canyon. We hiked approximately 7 miles total and visited two overlooks. Let's keep this area natural while enjoying its beauty!

This was a great trail that we really enjoyed. The mesas were gorgeous, there was something to catch your eye around almost every corner. The trail was well marked with the exception of one spot at the loop that seemed to coincide with Jeep trails. If it wasn’t for this app it would have been very easy to make a wrong turn there. There is a ladder in a spot and a few narrow passageways so I’m not sure how great it would be for dogs, while the steep incline and length of the trail made me think it would be hard to bring kids along. Overall a great workout with nice views.

Pogue Creek is a great workout with beautiful scenery! The many rock houses, steep cliffs, rock formations, boulders and hemlocks make the environment quite unique. It even has a white sand beach under one of the sandstone cliffs, and the water drips and pools by the cliffs are amazing. The only negative might be that it is not good for dogs due to the occasional steep stairs and ladders. But it is a beautiful hike!

This is a wonderful trail. It has a great mix of overlooks, incredible rock formations, and forest settings. The trail is well maintained and easy to navigate. There is enough elevation change to warrant the moderate rating and provide a good workout. This is definitely one of my favorite trails in this area.
