Old Hickory Trail is a 1.4 mile loop trail located near Hendersonville, Tennessee that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running and is accessible year-round.
This trail consisted of a flat straight paved path with three different length unpaved loops on the right side. The whole trail was too short for my taste and some areas seem to have smaller paths which was kind of neat but most of them would lead to dead ends or quickly circle back around pointlessly. Some of the trail loops through a wide open power line area which was over grown when we visited (tick heaven) so it was hard to tell where the trail started back up again. There is a long wooden deck part that I'm guessing is normally over a swampy water area but it was completely dry when we were there. It was the most interesting part of the trail.
Nice short trail. Enjoyed greatly!
Trails are wide and well kept. Really nice wooded scenery with a bridge that goes over one of the swamp areas. Trails are not very well marked and has a couple of trails that split off to dead ends. We only saw a couple of other people there but it doesn't appear to be the safest place to hike.
A great trail for kids! Check out my complete review at http://nashvillefunforfamilies.com/old-hickory-trail/ . I explored the trail with my 2 and 7 year old. There are tips and pictures.
Located a couple of hundred yards from Old Hickory Dam, this trail is a nice little escape into the woods while still staying well within the confines of the metro area. The trail is flat and consists of a straight paved path with 3 pine-needle-strewn loops that act as offshoots from the main trail.
Nice trail for an afternoon without having to leave town. Great for walking the dogs.
