In addition to the greenway trail at Melton Hill Park, there are several miles of natural surface trails that make a series of loops around the park. The mowed meadow trail begins north of the swimming beach, paralleling the greenway trail. On your way around, there will be a spur trail to connect to the adjacent loop which heads over to the eastern boat dock, weaving through the meadows in that section. This is a perfect habitat for a variety of birds for those that enjoy birdwatching. From the southern-most parking area past the playground and volleyball court, there is a trail that leads into the forest. This woodsy path skirts along the shoreline, offering several spurs over to the rocky bank of the Clinch River. This trail loops through the woods and offers several return options.

This is a beautifully maintained park. The woods portion of this trail is fairly unremarkable but makes for a nice loop on walk up to the overlook and back down to the parking area. A few trees down in the woods, but manageable and very little litter.

Dog friendly, beautiful easy trails with views and water access. Would like to come back and kayak here.

Disappointing. The wooded part of this hike takes you on trails filled with empty beer cans and other assorted litter. The paved path is nice, and turns into a grassy trail. If you're at the park, it might be worth taking the walk. If you're not, don't go out of your way for this one. There's better options.

First time we went there was a lot of litter. Second time it was much cleaner, but I still don't know if I would go swimming here.

It's okay but the trail head needs to be marked better

It is an okay walk, not really a trail, more like visiting a park. If you venture of to the left of the parking lot, you'll get on a short trail that is pretty.
