Moderate to difficult network of trails. There are quick turns and jumps that make this shared track more challenging for mountain bikers than it is for hikers. There are any trails crossing one another, so each rider/hiker can create their own loops.

Local single track, and love it. It’s an 8.5 mile ride. Well maintained and has a lot of mountain bike activity. Runners, hikers, dogs are allowed to use this trail. No motorized vehicles are allowed.

I see someone mentioned “mountain bikes only” , that is Not correct, and his top speed... slow actually... is 21 mph. If he hits a pedestrian he will be at fault. All TN public park trails that allow mountain bikes allow walkers/Runner’s. Pedestrians have the right to use it and have the right of way. Bikers must yield to pedestrians.

Pecking order TN public park trails;
1-Pedestrians right of way comes first, except on trails including horses. On those trails the horse has the right of way, then pedestrians, then cyclists. (Horses always have right of way on trails that allow horses)
2-bicycles, mountain or road bikes on paved trails.

Now does it make sense to run and hike during peek hours on a heavily trafficked mountain bike favorite? Probably not a good idea but it is your right in TN.

Strictly a Mountain Bike trail. classes are held here, Races are held here, and you could get seriously hurt hiking. my top speed as a biker on this trail is 21mph on these trails. I do not reccomend hiking them. You could get hit easily and legally you would be at fault for injury to biker and property.
As a mountain bike trail this has everything you want and its getting better. They are building gaps and jumps near Jeep hill, more connectors, and fast loops. Sumner County Fave for 20yrs!

More of a mountain bike trail but not too bad. Just keep your eyes and ears open for bikers. Not a bad walk though. Saw lots of deer in the woods which was cool.

Nice wooded trail with lots of deer. Not strenuous for hikers. Fair amount of bikers on the trail.

Horribly marked. You’ll need to follow map. Markers are either attached to fallen trees or non existent.
Hard for mountain biking.
Moderate for trail running
Easy for hiking.
Saw lots of deer 6am-7am
Saw a turtle on the path
Would revisit again.

This trail is rated as difficult but I think that's more for the mountain bikes and the sharp turns they will have to make. There are a couple of hills but nothing too crazy. I would rate this more as an easy trail personally. It is also listed as seven miles. You don't have to do seven miles! The trails are completely woven around and near each other. I did a mile and a half loop. I saw eight turtles and many many deer! It was a nice easy walk. I was also on the trail at 530 in the morning when no one else was!

My go-to local place for trail running though I certainly wouldn't rate it as hard. A great trail network built and maintained by the local mountain biking club. Since this is technically a mountain bike trail those on foot should always yield to the bikers. Navigating the web of trails can be tricky if you are new as they are not well marked (though they are better now than they were) so you may want to download the map available online.
Note: There is no water available and the porta-john at the boat launch is not guaranteed to be available

I'm from Nevada and I'm used to hiking Mt.Charleston with thousands of feet in elevation gain etc. I was hoping since the difficulty rating was "hard" it would be at least a little challenging. To my disappointment, however, it was not anymore challenging than a stroll down a sidewalk. It was very pretty, but not a workout despite carrying a toddler on my back and moving as quickly as I could.

You can tell it is mainly used for mountain biking. But not a bad walk through the trails.

We hiked the orange trail and it wasn't difficult at all. Can't imagine it becoming too terribly difficult on the other trails unless you're mountain biking, there are some pretty rough consecutive jumps and sharp turns. On foot, it's not a difficult trek. Plenty of deer to see along the way!

Decent trail, beautiful this time of year. Not moderate for experienced hikers, would say easy. Met 3 friendly bikers (stay out of their way). ;) Several sights of the lake. Take a picture of the map as the markings are hit & miss. Definitely go very soon as the leaves are gorgeous!

Great place to hike, paths are not marked well so be careful...

I use this one for trail running all of the time. Good variation in terrain and the three narrow trails permit different distance combinations.
One downside to this trail is that it is not well marked and as there are numerous shortcuts it can be easy to get turned around or take a wrong turn and lose mileage. There is a map available online which I would recommend for first timers.
Technically this trail is operated by the local mountain bike club so bikers always have the right of way. Keep your eyes and ears open and respect this rule. While this trail is great for biking and running I would not recommend it for walking or hiking.

Nice trail for Gallatin. Easy trail , the only thing hard about it is finding the way out. Trail not marked very well and they just sorta go in circles. But I would hike it again.

Better for biking then hiking! I got to see deer up close. It wasn't busy at all when I went an hour before sundown. I enjoyed it a lot! It's challenging if you are a beginner.

Best mtn biking I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Great trails, so it's about busy, but it's understandable why.

Great for mountain biking, as a beginner this was a challenge & had multiple spots for jumps. A choose your own adventure type trail. ***As the last reviewer stated this is NOT the best for travel on foot. Don't do it, surely there are more hiking appropriate spots nearby.***

Over 8 miles of mountain biking, single track, easy to moderate trails.

I strongly advice against trying to hike this trail. I noticed a terrible review by a hiker complaining about mountain bikers. This needs to be clear. This trail has been designed and built with solely mountain bikers in mind with obstacles and parts of trail where a great deal of speed can be built. If you do choose to hike this trail please be very careful.

That being said, I don't think there is a better mountain bike trail in the state. It is outstanding and well maintained by volunteers.

Neat trail but not worth fighting the mountain bikers to hike it. Some are awesome and slow down, tell you they are coming, and very polite. Some would just as soon run you over. Lots of switchbacks. Lots of trails in small amount of land.

Great trail for mountain biking! Large area to cover and plenty of deer to see. Beautiful trail that rides along Old Hickory Lake. Each trail is labeled by difficulties with a lot of up and down hill ridding.

The app shows this to be less than a mile, however there are more than 8 miles of single to here. I mapped it at 6.7 and I didn't do the Green (beginner) trail.

I really enjoy this trail, there are a lot of technical sections and some steep climbs. If you're really wanting some downhill speed take the orange loop it's about 8 miles and there's a lot of go-fast sections. I wrote it on a single speed and for the most part didn't have to walk it.
