Hiking

Very nice by the river but overall more of a walk than a trail hike.

The part by the river was the best portion of the trail. Super easy hike. I did a bit of wandering off the trail towards the end.

HikingGreat!

I hike this area a couple of times a week for exercise, only 5 miles from our home. Its inside Davy Crockett Birthplace Park. Most of the reviews only tell you about the trail by the creek and grave site. These are decent trails and creek trail is flat. But to get to gravesite off creek trail is about 80 percent up hill. Its a good workout if you non stop it. There are lots more trails in this park. I would say if you hiked every path it would be close to 6 miles. I easily walked 4.7 just 3 days ago. As you hike the creek trail out of main park area, turn left at grave trail sign and hike up the hill past the grave to another sign for the grave site. you will come to a path about 10 feet wide. I turn right and the trail takes you on a long loop up near the road to the park. They try to keep this mowed about once a month. Easy walking but some up and down. Follow this trail to the area designated as shooting range (frontier type only, and only on event days). I turn left at post with sign for shooting range, which is usually laying on ground next to post indicating you can enter area. There are quite a few other trails that intersect this trail along the way. All have a post with a trail sign. Beautiful trails and in most places feels like you are much deeper in the woods than you are. Some spots give you long range views of the mountains and from one spot with a bench you can easily see camp Creek Bald, the highest peak in Greeneville area. (look for cell towers on top of mtn.) Lots of wildlife, I saw fresh black bear scat just last week. Deer, squirrels, rabbits snakes and about anything you would expect to find in the woods. I love this park and the trails. Pretty good fishing along the creek too. I will be there in about 4 hours to get in a good 2 hour hike.

State park is great and enjoyable itself as part of the experience. (Few animals, neat set ups) Lovely lake area. Finding the grave was really neat. We walked along the river, came up the grave trail, and then walked back to the park. Spring everywhere and vibrant green. Hiked w 2 dogs and a 10&5 year old. Did see a snake in the river and would recommend decent shoes.

Tranquil and beautiful. . There are small little parking areas past the park on each side where there are a trailheads to pickup the trail for creek/river or bluffs. You can take start at the trailhead for the creek and walk along the creek/ river through the park and past campground then cut through campground and pick up the bluffs hike .. It’ll be more challenging and interesting.. very sandy and sort of beach-like especially w/sound of the falls near campground ..my favorite area.

Lovely hike for the first day of March. Areas along creek were still muddy, slightly underwater, or slick from the recent flooding and/or snow. Signs of spring popping up! Lovely easy hike to start the month.

This is a very pleasant walk that takes you along the banks of Big Limestone Creek, through nearby fields, and pine forests. The creek water in places is a beautiful light teal color on sunny days. There are a few places on the trail that would be a great spot for a picnic.

Beautiful walk through the woods and beside the river. Has some history with the old hotel that is no longer there and the grave site was interesting.

I love that I took my kids here for the first time and there was a place to stop quite a few times and rest or take a water break. And they got to see the river as well as take a little playground break as well. I would not take this Trail again if I was by myself, but my kids loved it!
