PLEASE NOTE: Dogs and pets are not petmitted in Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Laurel Falls is one of the most popular destinations in the park and parking at the trailhead is limited. The area is especially busy on weekends year-round and on weekdays during summer. Laurel Branch and the 80-foot high Laurel Falls are named for mountain laurel, an evergreen shrub which blooms along the trail and near the falls in May. Though the trail is paved and suitable for strollers, this trail gets very crowded. Having a stroller may slow you and other travelers down.

Because the trail is not difficult it made for a lot of people on the trail.

i called this the grandpa and baby trail. around every bend was either an old couple "hiking" in slacks and polos or a family pushing a stroller. its hard to take pics of the waterfall because people feel the need to walk up to the waterfall and touch it, regardless of who is taking pics. felt more like a guided nature walk than a hike

Nicely paved pathway! Have encountered snakes about the trail before. Beautiful location worth the stop completely! Get out of Gburg and see the park!

Beautiful hike! Pretty easy walking on a paved path that slowly gains elevation. Falls were gorgeous! Highly recommend! The best falls I’ve seen in the park besides Ramsay Cascades! (Which is not for the faint of heart)
I got to the trailhead around 9 not that busy...(For Laurel Falls) But by the time I headed back around 10-10:20 (Because I take a lot of photos) I saw over 50 people headed to the falls. In addition there were already at least 20 at the falls when I arrived so, yes it’s a BUSY trail. Get there early! Also a nice scenic opening in the trees to view the mountains

The falls were pretty but having to wait for everyone’s family photo opps to have a decent view, then feeling like I was holding everyone up by enjoying the view myself, kinda ruined the experience. Glad to cross it off my list, I guess?

Yes crowded but still beautiful at the falls and several places as you go. Twenty years ago we pushed our daughter in a stroller on a newly asphalted path. Now that path is eroded (the reason they asphalted it in the first place) and I would not recommend a stroller. Hard on the pusher and the baby.

This waterfall is nice, but it will be crowded and there isn't a whole lot of room at the top. The trail does continue past the falls for a less crowded walk in the woods. Don't give this trail less than 4 stars because it's crowded....it's stated in 90% of the reviews.

Love it. Paved trail can be slick in spots. Water fall was awesome. On the way back saw a young bear.

Great walk and beautiful falls. When the reviews say “heavily trafficked” they aren’t joking. It’s almost too busy to walk it but once you navigate around the people, it’s nice.

Fully paved walkway with a great prize at the end of the trail. There is a nice resting spot with a bench and a view at the .7 mile marker. shortly after this the trail levels out and depends slightly.

Nice but high volume of traffic.

Great trail for our family with small children. Easy enough for young hikers but with enough trail features to create several teachable moments. We will definitely visit again!

It had been raining & it made it (the falls) all the more beautiful. Beautiful walking through the woods. All uphill the first 1.3 and then down hill back.

More people than water on this one. Was disappointed with the falls, particularly given how crowded it was. One or two nice overlooks on the way up...but main take away was either come early or late, or just spend time on other longer/harder trails to avoid people.

Paved but please leave your strollers as its not smooth and it might be crowded. In fact, the trail was disgustingly crowded when I went. Nice quick trail if you can go at a time where you can avoid the crowds.

Decent, short trail. Paved but a lot of the paved area has been eroded and can be broken in areas. The falls is worth it in the end. Heavy foot traffic and expect people in your pictures.

Great little fall...even saw a yearling bear on the way back (luckily there were volunteers directing ignorant tourists away from it). The bad part and why I would not do it again unless someone with me really really wanted to is the # of people. Go early! Was ok on my way up but on the way down it was super crowded. I went past the falls and hiked a bit too, which no one really goes past there so that was nice (unpaved path). Is a good waterfall for those that want to see one that is easier to access. Difficult to get decent pics though because of all the people. I went around 9:30 am so I would say go at 7ish am and you’d have better luck.

Beautiful hike, the way is paved. Go as early as you can to beat the rush of people and possibly see the bears! We took children ages 2-12 they did great! Ok for the elderly if you can go at their pace. Area of Viewing the waterfall is stunning, but dangerous! Be careful near the Falls!

Easy walk with moderate elevation gain. Could be disappointing if you’re looking for a traditional hike, but fun if you’re just trying to get the family into the woods for a bit or if you need wheeled access. For example, there’s an asphalt path all the way to the waterfall. It was extremely crowded on a Saturday, but hardly anyone went past the waterfall where the trail turns to a soft surface.

Fairly easy hike with nice waterfall as a reward. Would definitely recommend.

Nice little hike. Trail is pretty much up uphill all the way. It's a nice steady incline all the way. The fall is very nice. you can climb down to the small pool at the base of the fall. I would recommend this to everyone. My wife has a heart condition and she made it without taking a break. Carry a bottle of water just to stay hydrated anytime you hike.

Nice, easy trail that nearly everyone can do and be rewarded with a gorgeous site at the end. Only challenge is avoiding the crowds :(

Bring a towel and a swim suit the pool at the base of the falls was very fun to play in! A really fun trail that is a little challenging especially closer to the falls. This trail offers stunning views of not only a large waterfall but a view of the surrounding valley at different places alone the route. I went in early August and it was very crowded but there was plenty of room to pass large groups and also plenty of places to rest going up/coming down.

It’s mostly paved trail, not quite as exciting.
