Dogs and pets are not permitted in Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Laurel Falls is one of the most popular destinations in the park and parking at the trailhead is limited. The area is especially busy on weekends year-round and on weekdays during summer. Laurel Branch and the 80-foot high Laurel Falls are named for mountain laurel, an evergreen shrub which blooms along the trail and near the falls in May. Though the trail is paved, the pavement is rough and can be rough for strollers in sections.

Easy, paved trail that's beautiful with the mountain laurel in bloom.

My family including 2 kids 7 and 11 who rarely hike enjoyed this trail. We went the day after a holiday. There were people, but not super crowded. We saw one family with a stroller abandon it as the paved path is washed out in spots. The falls and views are worth the climb. Watch out for the cliffs down the one side in parts.

Nice hike. A little bit harder than most people make it out to be but the water fall at the end it absolutely worth it. Bring lots of water. We went later in the day around (3pm) and it was still very busy.

Took on this trail during the pandemic but we got there early (8am) and had no trouble finding parking. Since the trail is fairly flat, there were a lot of families on it and it was hard to keep distance from other people, especially at the waterfall. Be prepared for a crowded viewing of the falls.

Horrible today. hyper crowded, steep, and extremely dangerous as the crowds are of children and people who don't seem to normally hike. The drop off walking up to the last stretch is straight down the cliff on one side, mountain wall on other side. I don't mind steep, but not with crowds. I wish we had chosen better. We tried to warn people with babies and toddlers on our way down. Probably a thousand people, tight, skinny paved trails, not a good mix. go somewhere more enjoyable. I think we tripped over people the while trail.

Beautiful falls- but definitely highly trafficked even early in the day.

waterfall is beautiful. fairly easy little walk. the blacktopped path has really deteriorated over the past 10-15 years, so no more strollers or wheelchairs. fun one.

This was the 1st trail we hiked with our family of 4. We loved the falls and saw a baby black bear on our way back down the mountain! Our kids 2&4 had a blast on the paved path to the falls but be careful because a few places have a straight drop off! The falls was just beautiful and we will be back! Notes: -Lots of hikers on the trail so be prepared for that. -Also parking may be an issue, 3 lots were full when we arrived so we had to park about 600 yards away from the trail head. -Our kids walked solo for about 1 mile then we put them on our shoulders. Might not be a bad idea to have a kid carrier for the little ones. -2 water bottle was good for all of us. We packed 4 just in case. -Have fun! Happy Hiking!

Falls were flowing. Nice paved trail. Quite a few people on a trail that was “closed”. Lots of trash on the trail. Ignorant people.

Nice to have a paved trail with a kiddo. Lots to see along the way that kept us intrigued despite the incline. Awesome mountain view across past marker 8. Recommend going 50-100 steps on the trail past the waterfall to see both upper and lower falls at the same time!

Trail is currently “closed” but can still be accessed. Can’t park at the trailhead.

The trail says it’s closed, and the parking lot at the trail head is blocked off but you can easily park on the side of the road, but we still went on it and many others were on it as well. It’s a mostly paved trail, not hard at all and the waterfall and the end is very rewarding and refreshing! The weather was perfect today for a hike, it was sunny and about 80 degrees. This is a perfect trail for people who want to hike, but don’t want to break a sweat doing so.

Always a great hike! Parking is limited and usually fairly crowded but worth it. Falls are beautiful! The trail continues past the falls if you would like to go further!

Easy hike to the waterfall. Very crowded. People bring their dogs. Some not on a leash. We hiked on past the falls to the old growth forest. We did not find the lookout tower.

Great short hike for the family. Pretty falls

This was our first time on the trail. it is well traveled and we were fury lucky to find a parking space near the trailhead due to it's popularity. The falls were absolutely beautiful due to a recent rain. The trail there are mostly up hill then drops just before the falls. Good hike for the little ones, but there are steep areas off to the sides so you have to keep the kids close.

Husband and I Hiked with my parents who are almost 70, our four kids 12, 10, 7, and 3 (in a backpack) and it was good. Very heavily populated.

The falls are beautiful and there are a few nice views of the mountains, BUT, the trail is badly washed out in many locations. It needs to be repaved or repaired throughout. In addition, do this hike early AM or suffer the horrific throngs trying to find a parking space or slogging along the trail. It was horribly over crowded today (Saturday) in March no less.

A very very easy trail for older folks or young kids. The entire trail is paved and it’s very short! The falls are beautiful at the end but super crowded.
