okay we do a lot of hiking but these trails were very steep we're not marked real well on this particular trail had some pole signs that were pretty but when you went the way it told you to go you still ended up getting turned around. definitely not a trail for kids and not a trail for beginners a lot of steep climbing a lot of steep going down as well as up as you can tell from our mileage we got turned around we ended up in a neighborhood having to walk back to the park did find the lakeside trail that went along the river back to the nature center and that was about two and a half miles I think and it was a good trail. trying to decide if we're going to come back tomorrow and try a different one don't know yet.
this loop combines two vastly different trails, but overall I think it was a fun hike. I started with the trail ridge hike which was a good cardio work out of ups and downs continually throughout the hike. I loved the dam overlook. In two weeks it will be even more beautiful as the leaves will be changing more. the lakeside trail was exactly what it sounds like, a nice easy peaceful walk along the lake. this side is very popular. I ran into tons of people on this portion, but none on lake ridge. if you do lake ridge wear good hiking shoes. some areas are really rocky and muddy. when the creek is full I'm sure the trail is even more fun, but it was dried up this time.
Gorgeous Trail! But beware of mountain bikers on the narrow paths.
Fox trail can be a scramble up going from rooster park entrance
Fine trail, even after a rain only a few muddy sections. Be careful walking over the wood bridges though, slippery when wet
