well maintained trail with fairly easy incline. saw only one group the whole day. was about 4 miles to the river (so 8 miles total). didn't get great views as the weather was a bit of a bummer, but loved the different settings the trail provided.

We didn’t see anyone on this trail, however we did end up seeing a momma boar along with 3 babies. Definitely a lot of incline the first half but once you get to little river the pace changes and allows you to catch a break. We enjoyed lunch by the river!

This hike was a 14.6 mile loop starting on Husky Gap and connecting to Sugar Mountain. The first five miles was a steady upward hike with an elevation gain of 2500 feet. The Husky Gap leg provides views of deep ravines. The Sugar Mt. leg offers more dense forest. At 6.1 miles the loop turns onto the Rough Creek Trail. At the junction there are great views of distant ridges. The first half mile of Deep Ridge has a lot of downed trees due to fire and storms that make the going tough. after that the remainder is a great trail with about 7 stream crossings that required fording due to recent heavy rainfall. The loop connects to the Little River Trail and then back to Husky Gap. The streams along Rough Creek and Little River trails were spectacular with high water levels. I saw two river otters on the Little River.

Fun trail with my kids (10 year old twins and 7 year old). A couple pretty rock formations. No real tricky spots. Saw some wild turkeys, snails, centipedes, etc.

great trail right off the main road after about 5 minutes you are completely immersed in wilderness. Not too difficult but still steep enough to raise my heartrate and break quite the sweat! Ran into no other hikers (which made it a little spooky after spotting some bear scat )until we got to the junction when we saw a ranger and some trail maintenance volunteers. would definitely recommend this hike there are 3 great views other than that just a really nice walk through the woods....in some spots the trail is is very narrow lots of flowers even in September :)

A great near 10-miler out and back (if you complete the entire trail). This trail is LOADED with wildlife (deer, snails, snakes, insects, birds, and yes, bears) and wild flowers, mushrooms, springs, a river, and various stone formations. It makes a great snapshot primer of what the Smokies have to offer, and would be a good trail for testing new equipment or for a Frontcountry camper wanting to take their first step into Backcountry camping (camp at Backcountry Campsite #21 as I did - hike out, camp that evening, and hike out the next morning). Easy without a pack; moderate with one; vehicle parking available at the trailhead.

The last 1/5 of the hike we weren't able to complete since a tree had fallen in the direction of the trail, blocking it. There was also a lot of overgrowth on the trail. It would have been nice to complete.

This trail is a hidden gem in the spring time. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount and adversity of spring flowers. It is definitely a moderate trail as it is a steady incline the entire way up but is very easy coming back down. I think the ideal time to see the flowers is mid-April through early May.

4/23/19 Beautiful! Mountainside covered in wildflowers. After about a mile and a half or so, the forest changed from green and flowery to still brown but with good views due to elevation.

Nice trail that is well kept. We hiked with 3 boys ages 6-9 and they had no problems. We started around 9am and didn’t see anyone else until we got to the top - nice and peaceful! It took us about 90 minutes to hike up.

Not a bad trail, primarily an access trail to multiple other trail within the great smoky mountains national park. a little tricky finding the trail head directly from the road the parking appears to be for what is a nature walk trail in the area and the trail head is actually across the road and marked with a small sign. good clear trail with a fairly steady uphill grade for the majority of the trail. As stated earlier great trail to access others but not much for sights.

Nice, easy trail, getting you to a destination in the Smokies. Of the trails in there, this one was on the easy side. https://www.facebook.com/groups/JasonHikingPage/
