Perfect easy hike along the river

A neat little trail that's paved for the beginning portion and then turns to gravel. I found the trail to be very enjoyable, but my mother wasn't as pleased. There are numerous little waterfalls, and the big one at the end was absolutely gorgeous and very full, especially since there had been a big storm the night before. Plus you walk by a beautiful creek the entire time. Definitely really great for families and first time hikers!

This trail is good for everyone. Fairly easy walking and the trail stays close to the river. There are some drop offs, so keep small kids close by. There are a couple different water falls. After a rain the fall at the bridge is really cool.

This hike is on an old road bed. It is a very easy hike. We have been to many waterfalls in the smokies. This might be my least favorite. If you are an avid hiker who enjoys being in nature. This is not the hike for you.

This trail would probably be great with kids or folks who want to be in nature without exertion. We found it to be pretty boring - a pretty flat, straight trail running next to a creek. It is pretty protected from the rain which was nice, but the falls at the end aren't a huge payoff. If we had more time, perhaps the Cucumber Gap loop would have been nice, but otherwise, I'd steer away from this unless you're looking for VERY low key. Bring bug spray.

The hike is a very nice stroll with pleasant views of the river.....it had rained some the day before so the waterfall was really nice.

bit too long for a 5 yr old, decent views of the river most of the hike, but nothing glorious.. not quite worth the effort

Great hike if you’re looking for a well manicured trail. Follows the river’s edge with plenty of calm pools to wade and splash. Lots of visitors while we were there, but it never felt cramped.

This is a flat but pretty hike. In early April, there aren’t too many leaves yet but in the summer I’m sure it is gorgeous. The river is just lovely, and we saw just enough people, passing someone every 15 mins or so. My kids (ages 6 & 8) enjoyed it. Lots of big rocks to have a picnic lunch. The waterfall at about 2.5 miles is neat, it goes under the path.

Do not hike this trail for the sole purpose of seeing the waterfall or you will probably be disappointed.....I was. The trail scenery is rivaled by few trails in the area. You're basically walking down a gravel road beside the creek making it a good trail for people who may have mobility issues or for youngins.

Wow! This trail does not disappoint! It is easy with a very slow incline. The river beside the trail was visible most of the trail. The rhododendrons still had a few flowers. Butterflies were plentiful with groups of them right at the waterfall. Also had to encourage a black snake out of our path!

This trail was perfect for our family (kids 11 and 14). Based on the previous review, we planned to get in the creek. The pool at the waterfall was perfect! Although a bit chilly for some. The cool water of the creek kept the air temperature about 10 degrees cooler than the trail head. The trail to the waterfall is an old road that is gravel with minimal uphill grade and lots of mid-day shade. The crowds were minimal compared to our hike at Laurel Falls the day before. Rated 8 of 10 by the kids (they requested warmer creek water for wading). :)

Great 5 mile-ish hike with minimal incline. There were many places for the teenagers to get in the river and swim/lounge. Near the end of the trail is a beautiful waterfall that flows under a wooden bridge/path.
