The Holston Mountain West Trail starts from Holston High Point (antenna farm). In most places, this trail is very discernible though occasionally mildly challenging. The key is to remain on the ridge when in doubt though at several points it does clearly skirt the ridge to the eastern side only. It is possible to extend the hike along the ridge until it merges with an old road bed. Then, one can hike to the Big Arm Trail and down the western side of the mountain. A good loop hike would be to start at the Old Dug Trail, then southwest on this trail to Big Arm and down. This hike takes place in a beautiful wooded setting and offers views to the east and west when the leaves are down. Enjoy!

Enjoyed the forest and views. Also checked out several geocaches along the way.
