BackpackingBugsGreat!Over grown

Lovely hike with historic relics & tree tunnels to break up the pace. Stream crossings were doable, even with recent rains and the trail itself is lightly trafficked, even on the weekend. Campsite was clean and well maintained but there were about 3 fallen trees on the actual trail.

I did this trail as a loop, came out at ranger station and hiked back up the road adds 2.1 miles. Finding the gear s and steam engine were cool. Nice hike for solitude only saw 3 people on second half of hike.

This was a great 6 mile out and back trail. It rained the night before so there was a little bit of mud. There are at least four stream crossings and it took us a bit for us to change out shoes to do the crossings. This would be really good if it didn’t rain the night before but it was a blast even in the mud.

2nd stream was calf high due to the recent rains. Had to turn around, too cold. Will be back. Definitely take the short trail at the beginning that takes you to the cemetery.

The trail was a bit overgrown but as always love my Smoky Mountains.. In the middle of the trail we watched the ground hoping not to see any snakes. Advice wear snake boots.. Crossed the Creek a few times but in the hot Summer months very refreshing. Quite and peaceful hike in the Smokies..

Hiked trail in November after heavy rain. Had a total of 11 stream crossings. Some required scrambling across downed trees and rock jumping in order to cross and stay dry at the same time. Beautiful secluded hike that is mostly near intersecting brooks and streams. Look for the wrecked steam engine as you near campsite 32. Moderate is an accurate rating in our opinion.
