A basic but still nice hike to a cool old steam engine. Be careful: you'll probably have to ford the streams

Glad to find the old steam engine in the creek. It was easy to see and easy to walk up to for photos. Came across a hiker yesterday on Porters Creek trail who was searching for it with no obvious luck. Hope we somehow run into him again to tell him he can find it 3.5 miles into the Grapeyard Ridge trail. (We parked on road just before the bridge. The trailhead is across the road and can be easily missed.)

Great hike with wonderful creek crossings to cool down in. Lots of history to explore. Really nice camp site along the trail.

Really good trail with a lot of ups and downs, beautiful creeks. Rhododendron should make it amazing when it blooms.

Encountered my first black bear while hiking on this trail. Nice creek crossings one of which contains the wreckage of an old steam engine tractor. Kind of cool.
