Great trail for an easy nature walk and to get your steps in. From visitor center, it was 4 miles round trip.

This is a perfect place to go for a trail run. I started at the Gatlinburg trailhead and ran to the Visitor Center. I also added on part of the Mountain Cove trail. I would suggest starting early. It was pretty crowded.

This was an easy hike which was nice since it was evening and we had already gone on another hike. The trail starts out following a road and going behind the park department maintenance area. But once you get past this it is a nice hike along the river. There are a couple of old chimneys that look like they are from the old Sugarland settlement.

Nice easy stroll/hike. Longer than most “easy” rated trails which is nice and it’s not too populated. Follows a nice stream.

I gave this a three due to road noise.
It is a nice trail to stretch your legs and walk your dog. The kids we saw while taking this walk enjoyed playing in the river.

Easy out and back trail with a visitor center (restrooms and vending machines). Seems pretty popular - we went mid morning and saw a steady stream of fellow hikers. Loved hiking along the little stream. Dog friendly.

Nice trail. Moderate trafficking. Lots of opportunities to rest by the river. Unfortunately, many piles of dog poop. So you must watch where you step.

This is a great in and out trail with plenty of photo op spot. It was pretty busy but still very peaceful it is well worth the trip.

Nice morning runs from Gatlinburg hotels

Really enjoyed this. Easy trail follows river. Road into National Park is nearby which detracts, but you eventually get away from it. As you get closer to the visitors center, the trail is part of a maintenance road.

Nice walk along the river not difficult at all, well maintained and easy to follow. Close to Gatlinburg and one of the few trails that allows dogs. No good Mountain View’s or impressive water falls if your looking to get out and stretch your legs this is perfect. If your trying to experience hiking in the smokies there are many better trails in the area.

The river is 5 star beautiful but the nearby commercial areas deduct a point to 4 stars. The nearby busy roads drop it down to 3. Bonus star granted however for being dog friendly. Overall 4 stars.

Did this trail May and October 2017. Starting from Sugarland Visitor Center's left side to Park Headquarters then across and to the left on Park Headquarters Rd. NOT comfortable (road) on this part, NO walkway over road bridge!! Only (TN side) trail that allows dogs.

Many flowers, strong walk bridge over Pigeon River. there is a short off trail path to the Smoky Mountain sign for photos. There is a square post you can place your camera, set timer for photos!

There are sections (before walk bridge) where you can see how close the Nov 2016 fire got to the trail.

Very hard to find the start of the trail -- have to go thru a parking lot - signs are confusing. Once you find the trail, it runs along the river and it is great! I actually think this one is better to start at the end and hike backwards - much easier to find your starting place!!!! Does allow dogs - several people we ran into were confused since nearly everything in the area isn't dog friendly (craziness!).

A nice trail for the dogs that also has some pretty views.

Super easy hike. Great way to get from town to the Sugarlands visitor center and Great Smoky Mountain National Park area. Follows a very clear river.

Easy hike along a beautiful creek

Beautiful in winter! Lots of people over the holidays though. Took an hour just to get through Gatlinburg to the trail head. Last part was on the side of the road as well. But lots of trees and the river was flowing fast!

If you’re coming from the Sugarlands Visitor Center you have to walk along a road for a little bit and past a workers building before the trail becomes more like an actual hiking trail. However, when you get to the actual trail it’s beautiful! Lots of good views and great for the dogs.

Decent walk with our dog. Way too much road noise for us. Nice river to wade in. Lots of gnats. We wish GSM was more dog friendly so we could have more hiking options.

Nice leisure walk with out dog. However the beginning of the trail is not well marked, you walk through some parking lots, then down the road until you actually get onto the trail.

Good trail. Starts at the south end of Gatlinburg. Easy access to the trail. You can get to it from the strip in Gatlinburg.

Decent trail, dog friendly on a leash. Labor Day weekend so it was a bit heavy traffic.
