Maybe it was the old fort, but this trail feels like it’s in Europe, not Tennessee. There are so many old gnarled oak trees and majestic beech trees. The meadow is beautiful and you get a great view of the surrounding island, even with the meadow grasses reaching six feet high around you. The trails are clearly marked and well-kept. We loved it.

Can link up to 3 trail segments up for a solid 4-5 ish mile hike/trail run. All natural trails, awesome views, even in august, of the lake and mountains. Mountain view is best from the ridge top trail. Trails are also well enough used that there aren't many spider webs across them (unlike the nearby lakeshore trail system- in August). picnic area is also great quality with many tables that have great views
