Fern Loop Nature Trail is a 0.7 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Silerton, Tennessee that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. This is an easy loop trail around located in Chickasaw State Park in West Tennessee. Features include a restored log cabin, old whiskey still, and farm tools representative of early settlers in this area. Chickasaw State Park was named for the Chickasaw Indians who once inhabited West Tennessee and North Mississippi. The 1,400 acres of land located in West Tennessee along the border of Hardeman and Chester Counties was one of Tennessees 20 New Deal-era state parks. The territory became a state park in 1955 when all park duties returned to state control, and the park and forest lands were deeded to the state. The park is situated on some of the highest terrain in west Tennessee. Of the areas 14,384 acres of timberland, 1,280 acres are used for recreation. Chickasaw State Park offers various activities for visitors to embark on including more than four miles of easy to moderate hiking trails and bicycle friendly roads. Guests can utilize the rowboats and pedal boats available for rent on Lake Placid.

Has nice cabin at the trailhead. Simple trail around a ravine. Great for kids.

This is a decent hike. Nothing super remarkable, but was good for young children. I enjoyed the area. It was nice and very easy to access for Memphians. I’m not sure why it’s listed as moderate, as it’s fairly easy and free from obstacles such as creeks and fallen trees.

Good for kids and there's historical markings and buildings along the way. Very easy so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants a full workout.
