Elise Chapin Wildlife Sanctuary Loop [CLOSED] is a 2.9 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Chattanooga, Tennessee that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.
There is $12 fee to walk/hike through the Elise Chapin Wildlife Sanctuary. Hikers report that the bridge and most of the trail is unmaintained.
Only half of the trail is accessible because the bridge has not been maintained and the “wet crossing” is a waist high ford through dirty river. Not safe as it stands today. I don’t write many 1 star reviews but attempted 3 trails here and completed none of them. I have, at this point, over 500 individual trails verified and this place contains the 3 worst, most poorly maintained, trails I have ever been on. Bonus is they charged us $12. We would have been better off throwing the money out the window and saving the time On the positive side, it is a certified arboretum, so if plants are your thing you might get some value. If hiking is your thing, avoid it.
